De 50+ onderzoekers van de afdeling Intern Wetenschappelijk Beleidsonderzoek verrichtten wetenschappelijk onderzoek voor de samenleving. Kernthema's zijn:- Rechtsbestel, over juridische problemen van burgers en bedrijven en hoe die worden opgelost. De focus ligt op het civielrechtelijke en bestuursrechtelijke systeem. - Digitale Rechtstaat, onderzoek naar het verantwoord datagedreven ondersteunen van beleid, praktijk en democratische controle. - Asiel en Migratie, over de werking en (bedoelde en onbedoelde) effecten van het toelatings-, opvang- en terugkeerbeleid.- Jeugdcriminaliteit, zowel het monitoren en verklaren als, het evalueren van interventies.- Straffen en Maatregelen, de effecten, zijn ze effectief, voor wie onder welke omstandigheden en waarom.- Forensische Zorg: waaronder zowel forensische zorg, langdurig toezicht als de evaluatie van de aanpak van de weigerende verdachten- Georganiseerde Criminaliteit en Rechtshandhaving. In het bijzonder gefocust op zware en georganiseerde criminaliteit en de bestrijding daarvan.Het onderzoek is relevant overheid, praktijk en burgers. In het bijzonder voor beleid en controle van beleid door het parlement, maar is ook van belang voor justitie en veiligheid ketenpartners, praktijk professionals en belanghebbenden die in aanraking komen met justitie en veiligheid. Het Wetenschappelijk Onderzoek- en Datacentrum (WODC) is een zelfstandige dienst van het ministerie van Justitie en Veiligheid (JenV) en verricht onafhankelijk, wetenschappelijk, beleidsgericht onderzoek. Het WODC draagt met haar onderzoek bij aan beleid dat door feiten en kennis wordt ondersteund. Door het ontsluiten van onderzoeksresultaten voor beleid, politici, professionals, burgers, media en wetenschappers levert het WODC als kennisinstituut voor de Rechtstaat een bijdrage aan een veiligere en rechtvaardigere samenleving.

De onafhankelijke Awb-Adviescommissie van Provinciale Staten en Gedeputeerde Staten adviseert het bestuursorgaan over ingekomen bezwaarschriften, maar ook over administratieve beroepschriften en klachten.

• Thematrekker en inrichten van nieuwe landelijke portefeuille Gezonde Leefomgeving verantwoordelijk voor de integratie van de portefeuilles Omgevingswet en Gezondheid en Milieu, en de heroriëntatie op de lokale, regionale en landelijke opgave: een gezonde leefomgeving. Thema's zoals: blootstelling aan gevaarlijke stoffen, klimaat, energietransitie, stedelijke verdichting, luchtkwaliteit, preventie, en incident- en crisisbeheersing waaronder geneeskundig adviseurs gevaarlijke stoffen. De focus leggen op collegiale samenwerking, landelijke uniformiteit als basis voor maatwerk, sturing op prioriteiten en professionele ruimte. Het voorbereiden en coachen van professionals om te adviseren in een omgeving met meervoudige belangen.• Strategisch adviseur Governance: Organisatie en bestuur van de publieke gezondheid en veiligheid - samenwerken regulier als basis voor samenwerken bij incidenten en crises. Het komen tot een gemeenschappelijke posities van de 25 GGD’en ten aanzien van de landelijke samenwerking, de kennisbasis en innovatie, de landelijke uniformering van de infrastructuur en middelen en de landelijke opschaling in reguliere fase, bij incidenten en in crisistijd.

Themes for the department are healthy living in a healthy environment, indoor environment, integrated health and environment impact assessment, integrated decission support.- Integrated approach to science interpretation for societyThe department organizes cooperation activities such as screening for health and environment risks, Knowledge platforms on Telecom, Power lines, Wind Turbines, Oak Processionary Caterpillars and Life stock farming.The knowledge platforms enable professionals, authorities and the general public to better meet their challenges. Cooperations of national organizations, professors, top technicians and communication specialists. Between science and publicThe Dutch Knowledge Platform operates independently andforms the missing link between science, the Dutch Governmentand the general public. It interprets scientific information tothe benefit of anyone interested in electromagnetic fields.The secretariat is hosted by the National Institute for public Health and the Environment. In het Kennisplatform Elektromagnetische Velden en Gezondheid werken het RIVM, TNO, KEMA, de GGD'en, het Agentschap Telecom en ZonMw samen om wetenschap te duiden voor burgers en werknemers. Het Kennisplatform EMV werkt samen met de Gezondheidsraad.
