Ronald serves as Rail & OV’s Chief Investment Officer and assumed the role in April 2024. He is responsible for all aspects of the pension fund’s investment strategies and business management. He is involved in investment policy setting and executing asset allocation, investment selection, risk management and operations. The pension fund manages a global, private and public markets portfolio by allocating over internal and external portfolio management teams.

Ronald was a member of the global leadership team during his tenure at APG. This team was responsible for EUR 550+ billion in public and private investments. The portfolio management teams were based in Amsterdam, Beijing, Hong Kong, and New York. Ronald acted as a chair of the Committee for Investment Proposals, which was tasked to approve investments in private assets and external managers.As a Managing Director he oversaw a large team of investment professionals spanning global equities, fixed income and commodities investments (AUM 250+ bn). This included both internal investment teams and external manager selection. He did serve as a deputy Chief Investment Officer with both public and private investments in scope. Ronald represented APG AM in the APG Group's Portfolio Board, which oversaw the collection of IT programs to execute key strategic objectives including the transition to a new pension system in the Netherlands. He secured partnerships with major industry players boosting product innovation and the firm’s reputation as a leader in responsible investing.He has successfully (co-)led numerous large-scale programs within APG, including the implementation of the EU Sustainable Finance Disclosure Regulation and implementation of a global operating model for trading and related systems. He improved and extended APG's product and service offering: ranging from ultra long-term active fundamental investing, active quant equity and credit strategies, to China ESG Equity and Fixed Income strategies in partnership with the Chinese asset manager E Fund, to low-cost ESG index investing. Dedicated to translate client needs into forward-thinking and progressive solutions.He co-led a digital transformation strategy, modernizing the use of data, systems, algorithms, and way of working throughout the asset management firm. Ronald was a co-lead in the transition of a Deloitte's data science team to APG to accelerate digitalisation.

Member of Management Team Equities at ING Investment Management (now part of Goldman Sachs Asset Management) and Head of Quantitative Investment Strategies. Key Achievements: Built and led a quantitative investment team, driving the development and implementation of data-driven investment strategies. Spearheaded the research and development of a wide range of investment products and solutions, catering to the evolving market demands, including a Growth fund, a Value Fund, and an Enhanced Index Fund. As founding member he established the basis for a fiduciary management team, ensuring effective advisory to institutional client assets on strategic asset allocation decisions and manager selection. Pivotal role to the firm's journey into Lifecycle Funds and (Collective) Defined Contribution Solutions. R&D of these products, from their conceptualization and design to their implementation.
