About Ronald Wabwire

I am a Rural Development Specialist with over 15 years’ experience in Livelihoods and Market Systems Development (MSD) programming with a bias on Commercial and Small-holder Agricultural Food Systems. I have worked with private and public entities, from local SMEs to International Non-profits. My area of expertise includes Agri-value chain development, Project Management, Green Growth, Agri-food systems development, and Veterinary Advisory among others. For the last 3 years, I have been serving as the Portfolio Development Manager/Ag. Head of Portfolio at the Agricultural Business Initiative (aBi) Development in Uganda in charge of a portfolio of 35 national projects in seven value chains of Dairy, Horticulture, Pulses, Coffee, Oilseeds, Poultry and Cereals with an annual budget of USD 12 Million. I have also worked with SNV Netherlands Development organisation, World Agroforestry Centre and the National Animal Genetics Resources Centre & Data Bank in different technical and administrative capacities.I have carried out Agricultural value chain studies and facilitated Ag. sector strategy formulation activities, organised successful international sector conferences and events and advised on large trade and investment projects among others. I am familiar with key constraints facing Sub-Saharan agri-business operations and have routinely initiated and participated in lobbying for growth-enabling policies, investments, and green practices at the national level.
