Management of the system safety aspects of safety related bids and projects of Logica in the Nederlands (7000 persons). Part of 2 man team.

Galileo is a global system for satellite positioning and navigation. This programme is a joint initiative of the European Commission and the European Space Agency (ESA). As Galileo guarantees the integrity of the signal, it can be used in cases with potential loss of life. Therefore the Galileo system needs to be certified (safety) and accredited (security).For the quality of the programme the Galileo Software Standard was developed, derived from ECSS-E-40, ECSS-Q-80, DO-178B and others. Various other standard are also used, e.g. standards on safety (e.g. MIL-HDBK-217F) and security (e.g. CCMB-2005-08-001 and IEC 15408:2005).Specific responsibilities included product assurance of the Satellite Configuration Control Facility (ca. 25 persons and 2 subcontractors), the Key Management Facilities (ca. 65 persons and 2 subcontractors) and two other Galileo projects.

Involved in mission/safety critical aspects of the development of various projects, e.g.: Oosterschelde storm surge barriers, protecting Zeeland, a part of the Netherlands, agains extreme high water. Note that the flood in 1953 is the largest disaster of the Netherlands after the 2nd world war. Measlandt storm surge barrier, protecting Rotterdam and enviroment against extreme high water; RWE Transgas. Master Control system of main natural gas pipelines (From Ukraine to West Europe) in the Czech Replublic and in Slovakia. Flower auction Aalsmeer. Logistic system for worlds largest trade building, whereby the entire store is handled within a few hours. We can live a day without flowers, but a failure during the auction is serious, as approx. 10MEuro is auctioned. Air Traffic Control Schiphol. New system for the Air Traffic Control Tower. EMO, the lagest dry bulk terminal in Europe, accommodating the largest ore and coal carriers. Automation of the whole site.
