Current Assignment:Integration & Infrastructure Solution Architecture and design for a new Digital Bank based in South Africa. History:I have been in the IT industry for around 25 years now having wandered in here after being glued to a ZX-80, ZX-81, Spectrum and then BBC B for most of my senior school career.Professionally I started out as a developer using a 4GL COBOL Generator called FlexGen to design HR based applications to integrate into an existing generic payroll system. From there I contracted for a couple of years in the UK to the likes of Motorola and IBM doing conversion work between VAX based COBOL to Microfocus COBOL and C. Returned to South Africa and took up a development position with a software security company. Part of a three man team that wrote a network monitoring suite capable of monitoring both Novell and Windows networksJoined an ISP called Internet Solutions in 2008 as a Web Developer and was quickly promoted to Solutions Architect. Developed and designed many web sites in a variety of languages and databases including ASP, Java, MS SQL and Oracle. In 2001 was responsible Systems Architect responsible for the design of the 2003 Cricket World Cup ticketing system.I moved into more of a consulting architect role thereafter and now run the Solutions Office within the Dimension Data Special Projects Office. My responsibilities here include the translation of business needs to technical solutions, ensuring the technical coherency of responses in large multi-line of business bids and development and responsibility for the Architectural Methodology.Overall I have developed a broad view of the various technologies that Dimension Data offers including Networks, Software Development, Security, Hardware and Operations Management.Specialties: Application Architecture Application Development (Java, Delphi)Solution Crafting (Networks, Storage & Security)
