I started my career as an elementary school teacher with Portsmouth Public Schools and now I am a Enterprise Application Specialist for Albemarle County Public Schools. Now that's a heck of a career switch! Through the various places I've worked in my short career, I gained skills, experience, and knowledge that has aided me in strongly progressing forward career-wise. As a elementary teacher, I was able to develop time and data management, while gaining presentation skills in the process. After settling into the role of a technology coordinator, I became aware of curriculum development, equipment management, and network infrastructures. At the same time I was honing my training/presentation abilities. Working as an Operator allowed me the freedom to learn proper alarm analysis/management, new programming languages (Visual Basic, Cicode) , and appropriate employee supervision from my supervisor. As a Business Application Specialist II, I learned the appropriate management/utilization of Accela Automation, proper testing procedures for system functionality, and provided assistance to end-users in navigating this application. In the role of a Systems Analyst with CVB and UVACC, I gained knowledge of application server management, slight project management and also was introduced to intricate practices of the banking world. Lastly, working with Christian Aid Mission allowed me to learn about database management and donor management in the world of fundraising for our missionary groups. Now I embark on a new journey as a Enterprise Application Specialist for Albemarle County Public Schools. Technology has always been my passion and I have continually made strides to move towards that area throughout my career.
