MEI is a San Diego-based oncology company focused on the clinical development of novel therapies for cancer. Our pipeline of clinical-stage drug candidates includes Pracinostat, an oral HDAC inhibitor partnered with Helsinn; ME-401, a highly differentiated, oral PI3K delta inhibitor; Voruciclib, an oral, selective CDK inhibitor; and ME-344, a novel mitochondrial inhibitor. Core Responsibilities:1)Manage and provide overall operational leadership and tracking of drug substance and drug product manufacturing activities, inventory planning, packaging and labeling activities and distribution across MEI’s development programs; 2) Collaborate with MEI's contracted CMC subject matter experts and CMO/CDMO's; 3) Serves as a point of contact for other MEI departments seeking CMC information; 4) CMC technical reviews; 5) Coordinate the distribution, packaging and labeling of drug product within supply chain; 6) Manage CMC contracts and budgets; and 7) Assist in the review of the CMC sections of regulatory health authority submissions.

Core responsibilities include managing small-molecule Medicinal Chemistry for preclinical to early clinical development projects. Serve as a key medicinal chemistry resource to program teams and help set program priorities and direction for programs ranging in development stage from candidate seeking through preclinical to early clinical development. Apply knowledge of key molecular recognition, ADME, biochemical and pharmacological principles to the design of new molecular entities in the context of a target pharmaceutical product profile. Work on multi-disciplinary preclinical development teams involving a plurality of departments and project work streams (e.g. Computational Chemistry, in vitro Biology, in vivo Pharmacology, DMPK, Pre-formulation/Formulation, Toxicology, Clinical, Regulatory, etc.) to enable efficient and expeditious transitions from screening hit to lead candidate and ultimately to final clinical candidate selection. Interact with computational chemists and integrate the information into the design and evaluation of proposed targets. Manage and assist with the selection of external collaborations with contract research organizations, academic/industry collaborators to high levels of productivity- on time and on budget. Design, plan and manage the execution of multi-step organic syntheses and purifications of small molecules in high quality. Communicate strategies, results, and problems to key stakeholders. Assist with vendor selection, contract negotiations and budgeting. Collaborate with patent counsel toward proactive IP portfolio management and contribute to patents and other intellectual property.

Core responsibilities included assisting attorneys with the drafting and prosecution of patent applications in the US and foreign countries; performing computer-based literature and structure searches related to Patent Landscape Analysis and Patentability searches related to inventor disclosures in the chemical and related art groups; manage, balance and prioritize multiple tasks related to patent prosecution; drafting responses to Office Actions, drafting claims and/or claim amendments, instruction letters to foreign associates, IDS document preparation and client presentations.

Core responsibilities include serving as an interface for the National Organization and KOL’s and the external scientific and medical/clinical research community.
