SLCE fosters success through engagements with diverse specialists across scientific, technical, policy, legal/regulatory, operational, faith & business communities to anticipate and address threats to changing challenges and finds pathways to overcome near and emerging barriers to safety, security, wellbeing and prosperity.• In 2022, SLCE's crowning action initiative is "Maintaining Hope in a Hopeless World."• In 2021, SLCE is undertaking an initiative called "Show the Way" with special focus on trauma associated with near-death, dying, and death among those closest.• In 2020, SLCE actions promote Safety, Security, Wellbeing, & Dignity for all in context of global SARS-CoV-2 pandemic.• In 2019, SLCE action initiative addressed "Giving Hope to those Who Lost Their's," a focus within "Living in a Complex World." • In 2018, SLCE pre-released a values-based approach in July [ASIS IAP Council] and Apr [JHU SAIS Global Risk Program, Europe Bologna]. A presentation What Do You See? What Do You Do? uses audience participation, real world examples, and unique perspectives from lived experience to explore how changes in complex environments empower individuals to positively impact the world. Themes included: faith-based, cybersecurity and big data, and security & information asset protection.• In 2016-'17, SLCE started "Global Awareness, Local Action" based on the lived experience, S&T expertise, professional security background, and faith-based approaches. Global awareness uses global risk assessments, networked inputs, and experts. Local action-based solutions evolve in Virginia that address the proposition governments alone can no longer protect us. • In 2015-'17, SLCE added "It is A Traumatized World" to its approaches & emphasized resilience initiatives that ignore human reactions miss the mark.

The NAMI NoVA mission, as individuals, family members, and friends affected by mental health conditions, is to serve the Northern Virginia community through education, support, and advocacy. NAMI NoVA is a 501c3 charitable organization and operates accordingly.

The Greater Prince William Trauma-Informed Community Network is a coalition of county officials and nonprofits working to educate the community about the impacts of childhood trauma and ways to prevent and overcome it. Trauma is viewed as an event, multiple events, or set of circumstances experienced by an individual as physically or emotionally harmful or life-threatening and that have had lasting adverse effects on functioning as well as mental, physical, social, emotional and spiritual well-being.
