Bakery Production Team Member
CurrentAs an early morning baker at Whole Foods, I work from 4 am to 12 pm, taking on various responsibilities to ensure our bakery offers a wide selection of delicious baked goods. My role involves baking a diverse range of items, including over 10 varieties of bread, 10 types of cookies, danishes, cinnamon buns, vegan donuts, croissants, chocolate croissants, muffins, laminated pastries, and seasonal items like fruit and nut pies.In addition to baking, I am also responsible for the meticulous packaging of our baked goods. This includes affixing beauty stickers and pricing labels that provide essential information such as ingredients, allergens, date of production, and a use-by date (not to be confused with an expiration date). Our use-by date is a general guideline for maintaining product freshness, typically extending 2 to 3 days beyond the sell-by date at room temperature. Products can also be frozen for longer storage. I adhere to the FIFO (First In, First Out) method when restocking items on the bakery floor, ensuring that our customers always receive the freshest treats.Maintaining the presentation of the bakery is crucial, and I play a part in keeping the area looking inviting and well-stocked. This involves assisting with restocking shelves, counters, and displays to create an appealing shopping experience for our customers. I'm also responsible for filling the brioche case, which includes pricing and dating each item before placing it for sale. Furthermore, I help stock small carts with both seasonal and regular items like cupcakes, bagels, and other brioche products. I prioritize cleanliness and hygiene throughout my shift, regularly cleaning and wiping down counters, changing my gloves, and washing my hands as needed, especially after breaks. Additionally, I'm ready to assist customers with various needs, such as bread slicing, selecting cakes and pastries, and answering general inquiries.
