As the Great Plains Administrator, I am responsible for the administration, support and custom development of the Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains product. I managed the integration the partner’s customization dictionary with the internal customization dictionary into a single dictionary in preparation for upgrade to GP2010R2. I worked on the installation and deployment of GP2010R2. Develop custom application to allow more cash to be applied to an invoice than the amount of the invoice, which isn’t allowed in normal Great Plains, this allowed the company to clear over $3M in unapplied cash and continues to allow them to deal with excess unapplied cash. Rebuilt company security structure to match the new Role based security structure.Continue to work on Great Plains Dexterity development projects (new functionality and altering existing functionality) and Microsoft T-SQL development projects; I am also the primary Great Plains Help Desk Support Analyst.

As Dynamics Great Plains Administrator I accepted a position where the IT department felt ignored by their current Great Plains partner and a user community generally disliked Great Plains. As head of the Great Plains Steering Committee I initiated a process to select a new partner, Developed the partner relationship so that all the users (and I) have come to depend on them as a valuable member of the team. I have worked with the user community to make sure their needs were being addressed in a timely manner, worked out problems with the current installation and garnered the user acceptance of the current install and had them focused on implementation of the newest version. Working with the partner I was able to stabilize the current install and meet all of the daily issues as they arose. Within my support role I primarily worked with the Accounting and Production departments troubleshooting application issues; working with the power users to define and establish procedures to improve the user experience.I’ve also assisted on the integration of Marketing and Workflow applications with Great Plains and started a Sharepoint site for internal collaboration within the user community and management.Thomas Nelson has a highly customized version 7.5 Great Plains installation with many Modifier, VBA and Dexterity modifications, in a Citrix environment; I initiated a process with the new partner to consolidate these customizations into a more manageable package prior to the installation of the next version of Great Plains, 10.0. I also was able to stabilize a very complex Manufacturing/Accounting report built on 75+ T-SQL stored procedures and Crystal Reports. As a Dynamics developer I developed a very through understand of the Great Plains table structures, their relationship and the integration points and the inner working of Great Plains; this was foundation I used for troubleshoot application issues and working with the end users to develop solution to their problems

As a Developer for Broadpoint, a Dynamics Great Plains VAR, I worked on the creation and support of customizations to the Sales Order Processing, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, General Ledger, Human Resources, Field Service and Project Accounting modules using the Dynamics Great Plains language Dexterity, Microsoft T-SQL and Microsoft Visual Basic. I also obtained certification in the Scribe Insight / DynamicsGP integration tool and worked on a project using Scribe to import legacy data into a new DynamicsGP install. Matrix Resources is a consulting company that was my direct employer. Matrix contracted me to Prosys Information Systems as a Dexterity Software Developer. Prosys had a legacy software system that was produced by a company that is no longer in business. As a result Prosys chose to replace their legacy system with Microsoft Great Plains version 7.0. My assignment was the enhancement of Great Plains to add the functionality that was in the legacy system and that is not in Great Plains. This involves major customizations to Sales Order Processing, Inventory Management and Purchase Receiving and additional business specific functionality unique to the customer.

I wrote customer proposals for the modification and enhancement to Dynamics/eEnterprise application. For the first year I worked as a Dexterity developer. Made modifications to existing Dynamics functionality and created new functionality that was integrated into existing Dynamics functionality in SQL7 and SQL2000 environments. I’ve worked extensively with Crystal Reports producing simple to complex reports. I’ve made modifications and enhancements to Dynamics functionality using Visual Basic for Applications (VBA). For less than a year worked as a Quality Assurance Analyst. In this capacity I tested the projects assigned to other developers. The work was done in a separate testing environment and included installation and functionality testing. Setup a Ginseng testing environment. I updated a previously written product that enhanced the setting of Dynamics/eEnterprise security.
