Operated plastic extruder used in making wire and cable of many types and configurations. In the time I have worked for Belden I have been trained to operate 9 different plastic extruders with reasonable skill as well as using production floor computer reporting systems of several types. I was asked to take a position as a supervisor twice but stayed in the position I held due to pay and job enjoyment. Currently laid off seeking employment.

Supervised 4-5 employees in the acceptance of air freight shipments for an LTL carrier. Was responsible for correct build of airline freight moving via United Parcel Service. Supervising loading of as many as 10 time sensitive outbound tractor trailers each evening. Verifying correctness of hazmat shipments...i.e. proper labeling and documentation to meet D.O.T. regulations. Scheduling of part time employees to best accomplish work at the lowest overhead. Customer service of various levels throughout the evening. Co-ordination of odd and oversize loads with appropriate terminals. Data input into companies own transportation system. Verification of correctness of all station's evening data entry daily. Interaction with the station manager regarding scheduling, loading and logistics of all outbound freight. Was in charge of virtually all evening resources involving movement of approximately 120,000 to 175,000 pounds of freight weekly.

Expedited routing of air freight shipments nationally via airlines, ltl carriers, freight cartage agents, and standard transportation i.e. J.P. Hunt etc. Did data entry in an air freight module written for the transportation industry. Dispatched company trucks local for pick up and delivery of air freight. Some customer service via telephone.

Managed all areas of full terminal as well as two other terminals located in Richmond, VA and Norfolk, VA. Responsible for hiring, training and supervision of all employees except upper management Approximately 15 truck drivers as well as 4 dispatchers. Trained dispatchers , created dispatch policies, utilized time and equipment to make the best profit for company. Was integral part of restructuring in several areas of operations that led company to double it's profits in each of the years I was employed. Was responsible for ground floor compliance of D.O.T. regulations. Also supervised all equipment maintenance.
