About Ronald Van Der Vossen

Already at a very young age, I knew I desperately wanted to become a pastry chef. From the pocket money, my parents gave me I bought children’s cooking books and while reading I selected sweet delicacies which I would prepare in my mother’s kitchen.When I was ten years old I started working/helping for free at a patisserie in our village in my spare time. At home I wanted to apply the experience I gained, driving my mother insane, as I constantly occupied her whole kitchen while making a huge mess. My mother was soon done with this situation, and therefore my father built a kitchen for me in our shed, where I could make and sell everything I longed for. At that time, I was 12 years old and from the money I earned, I bought new materials and ingredients.Even before I could take up an education in the field of pastry (the age requirement was 14 years) I wanted to work at the best local patisserie. I got a job there by asking them if I could work there for free in my spare time. I have learned a lot there and gained a lot of experience. After a while they gave me 25 guldens (the currency used at the time) per day, I cannot express how happy I was!From that moment on I have only worked at the best companies and I have gained a lot of valuable experience.Now, many years later, I am still intensely passionate and strongly motivated to do my work and I still enjoy every part of it!
