About Ronan Mccarthy
My primary responsibility is the organising and administration of the Universities Regional Leagues and National Championships in all games (Men's and Ladies Gaelic Football, Camogie, Hurling and compromise rules in Hurling/Shinty & Camogie/Shinty). I organise the administrative support and games promotion for increasing participation in an ever expanding spectrum of Gaelic Games in Britain. I provide coaching and referee courses within the third level sector with a view to clubs and schools having qualified coaches and referees at their disposal.I work hand in hand with British Universities & Colleges Sport (BUCS) to ensure all participants are correctly registered and insured. Each year I offer assistance with Sponsorship and Fundraising and Grant Applications. I have a budget year which I must administrate. Throughout Britain there are almost 70 University teams with over 2000 participants. I have Development Officers and Regional Organisers in five regions who I delegate tasks to and whom report back to me throughout the year.As Community Development Administrator for Scotland GAA it was my responsibility to sustain and promote underage Gaelic Games in Scotland. I have clubs in Coatbridge, Dundee, Edinburgh and two in Glasgow. I coach and organise additional coaches for schools in these areas and have regular local and national school and club competitions. I work closely with each club in promoting the school/club link and increasing the number of participants each year.

Community Development Administrator
As Community Development Administrator for London GAA it was my responsibility to sustain and promote underage Gaelic Games in London. My main aim was planning county games development strategy and implementation of county initiatives for schools and clubs while implementing practical programmes in coaching and games development as part of the continuous player development programme. I would promote coach and referee education (CARE). To do this I would tutor a number of Gaelic Football and Hurling Foundation and Level One Coaching Courses. I would also organize Referee Education courses and organize Child Protection Courses for all underage coaches. I was responsible for the coaches in over sixty-five schools across London coaching Gaelic Football, Hurling and Camogie. At the end of each half term I would organize a blitz for all the schools to attend. As Community Development Administrator I would assist all the clubs with coaching sessions and promote the school/club link. In an administrative basis I would organize the timetable of coaching and blitzes for each school year, organise Camps, submit time-sheets from my coaches and assist each club in finding funding sources from various sources including Sport England and the Borough Councils.During my time in London I had the opportunity to successfully use and develop all my academic qualifications in sports coaching, management, finance, marketing and education. I had the opportunity to fully use and develop my coaching and fitness experience and qualifications while gaining qualifications as a Coach and Referee Tutor.

My main duties were to assess each clients fitness needs and planning a 12 week personal programme. I would advise my clients on their lifestyle and diet. I would be working with people of all ages, sex and ethnicity. I regularly took fitness classes in Spin and Circuits. This role gave me the opportunity to use all my fitness qualifications and gain experience in working with people of all ages with different needs. I could development my inter personal skills working with people individually and in groups while helping them reach targets and overcome injuries.
