This project aims at investigating the role of histone deacetylases (HDACs) in the immune response and immuno-metabolism, leading to the identification of new targets for antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory treatments.

The Institute For Molecular Bioscience, Brisbane, Australia

• This project led to the discovery of new antimicrobial pathways involving Zinc, mitochondria and lipid droplets. Identifying new possible targets are of paramount importance in the context of multi-drug resistant.
• Research: 12 publications in top-ranked journals.
• Supervision/Management: Associated Supervisor of 7 Honours students (all successfully passed), 6 PhD students, and research assistant. Runner-up for IMB Impact Award for Leadership and Mentorship (2018). Won the IMB.
• Funding: Obtained 2 highly-competitive Australian grants (led so far to 9 publications, including Science, Nature comm, Cell reports, FASEB Journal)
• Teamwork: Strong collaborations with other research groups specialized in immunology, organic chemistry and drug discovery (published and ongoing projects). Organisation of conferences.

The Roslin Institute, Edinburgh, United Kingdom

• Characterization of the gene regulation during inflammation in porcine macrophages and comparison of human and mice macrophages gene expression. This project illustrated the potential use of alternative animal model.
• Research: 13 publications
• Supervision/Management: Co-Supervision of two PhD students (successfully passed).
• Funding: Obtained a grant of 5,000 USD to study horse alveolar macrophages (led to 2 publications)
• Teamwork: International collaborations on the pig immune gene annotation (FRANCE, UK, USA) (led to 3 publications, including in Nature).Skills:
