Starting life in IT as a Cobol programmer for the UK Post Office in 1979, I spent the subsequent 36 years involved in all aspects of business software development and deployment and have managed teams in the range of 3 – 300 in size. I made a switch to Security and PCI in 2015 and have overseen the governance and uplift of PCI DSS compliance across the width of British Telecommunications (BT), all brands and all channels. In material terms, my team and I are accountable to the Board for the assessment of circa 40 ‘capabilities’, tracking compliance of 60 3rd parties are tracked and ensuring BT is fully PCI compliant in all aspects of eCommerce, Contact Centres and Retail Stores.
