Began development in 2006 on a coffee importing, roasting, blending, retail & wholesale operation to be introduced in Europe. We opened our doors on November 17, 2007 in Romania. We quickly grew and opened a 2nd store in January 2008 and began selling wholesale to other cafes. We were beginning the process of planning a 3rd store when the US "Credit Crunch" ended up unfortunately causing many businesses in our community to close (they relied on US credit for daily operations) causing an unusually large number of our customers to lose their jobs. We went from profitable and growing to struggling and questioning it's viability in the weakened European economy. We closed the doors to our roasting operation in May 2009 and closed the doors to our retail operation in January 2010. It was not a failure by any stretch of the imagination, but a life changing, learning experience that impacted not only me, but 17 awesome employees who were grateful for the experience of Three Bean Coffee Co, even if just for a short time.
