CurrentKwikShip is the culmination of more than 6 years of focusing on the fulfillment industry and how to make it better. After meeting with the owners of Trim Healthy Mama at another company that I was working for who was contracted to do their fulfillment work and listening to all of the issues that they had experienced with contract third party logistics providers, I made it my personal mission to create a new revenue stream for the company and build a solid fulfillment solution for THM. With the help of my best friend and co-worker, Chris Ballentine, we made it highly successful, but our hands were tied on growing fulfillment to what it needed to be to meet the expectations of our customers.Once THM hired me full time, we almost immediately started on the journey of building a fulfillment company. Over the holidays in 2016, we found a building, measured out the floor space, and I designed and laid out every computer, packing station, rack, screw and nail of what would become KwikShip with CAD software. After drafting the plan and quickly costing out and procuring all of the parts and pieces necessary, we moved into our empty building on January 11, 2017. By February 1, 2017, we had a fully stocked warehouse and highly efficient shipping line that was ready to ship orders. It was an amazing feat that I'd have to attribute to my amazing crew.At the beginning of 2018, I created all of the branding and the foundations of our billing system, KwikShip split from Trim Healthy Mama as a sister company, and we started taking on new customers. We've torn down and rebuilt our shipping line 7 times to make it better, larger and more efficient, and after all of our hard work, we've created a 99.98% efficient fulfillment and distribution solution. I feel that the work that we've done to build the fulfillment solution that we've built, and the diverse family of crew members that we've assembled to run it is the best and most fulfilling work that I've done in my career.
Director Of Product & System Design
Over 6 years ago, I started designing the packaging concepts of what would become Trim Healthy Mama's current product line as a freelance consultant. At the same time, I was building an efficient and reliable fulfillment system for them at another company.Since being hired on full time with Trim Healthy Mama, I've helped grow the company in every direction using many of the skills that I've acquired over the years, and I've picked up many new skills along the way. I've worked closely with everyone from CEOs, software developers, consultants, contractors, staffing agencies, security companies, vendors of all types and customer service to bring our customers the best physical and digital experience that we can, and I work hard every day to make it better. I always give the best of what I have, and I've become a go to for guy complex problem solving. Some of my duties have included, designing new product packaging, creating corporate branding, concept art, presentation pieces and mockups, promotional materials, setting up new products in the THM WooCommerce store, scheduling and running our massive sales, setting up a point of sale system, troubleshooting order and system issues and delegating tasks to my team to follow up and fix any problem that arises, and we've become very good at what we do. Working closely with our development team, we've created a highly efficient and integrated system for receiving and fulfilling our orders. I've managed many of our large infrastructure projects, including designing and building our fulfillment facility and our physical storefront.Currently, I'm working with our development team to build the company's odoo based ERP system, working with print vendors to ensure that our new packaging will work on our new machinery, designing the final CAD layouts of our almost finished manufacturing center and designing and 3D rendering mockups using Sketchup and VRay of my vision of what our future THM cafés will look like for the owners.
Illustration/Design/Marketing/Web/Infrastructure
From 2006 to 2016, I wore many hats at this company. I designed branding, packaging, marketing materials and web graphics of all kinds utilizing traditional techniques and industry standard software. I was the company's designer for our largest entertainment accounts, which included almost every big studio name on music row in Nashville and many independent artists. I handled all aspects of print and web marketing, and I designed and maintained two different websites for the company. In 2014, I installed an eCommerce fulfillment system to expand the the company's third party logistics services. I learned the ins and outs of product packaging design, prepress, folding carton design & CAD sample making, and the many options and finishes of the offset and digital printing industry at this company.
Illustrator/Designer/Web Designer
While working as the house illustrator illustrating two lines of children's books for this independent publisher, I also directed writers, actors, and audio engineers to create interactive, educational and entertaining audio stories to go along with the books that I was illustrating. I used a multitude of 3D modeling, rendering and animation software solutions combined with photo compositing and digital painting techniques to create immersive illustrations with accurate depictions of the requested content. Since these books are sold in Museums across the country, this process required an almost extreme amount of historical research and fact checking. I handled all aspects of the graphic design, page layout, proofing and prepress of the books from start to finish. Our books won many awards for their content and originality.
Illustrator/Designer
I was an illustrator and graphic designer for this international talent staffing agency. While working there, I handled the creative direction in illustration for the No Child Left Behind Digital Learning Project with McGraw Hill. I assigned illustration projects to illustrators nationwide while being a lead producer in the required tiny hand drawn black and white stylized spot illustrations for the project. With a very short deadline for what was required, my team produced hundreds of illustrations.
Sculptor
Working with a fantastic team team of artists, sculptors, rogues and pirates, we built "The Olympian" statue in Olympic Plaza at Tennessee State University under the supervision of master sculptor Jane Allen McKinney. It was an honor to be chosen to work on this project, and the challenges of building a 46' monumental sculpture were vast. As a team, we tackled them all. We used the techniques of masters old and new to bring Dr. McKinney's vision to life. The sculpture is made of brass, aluminum and copper wrapped around a mild steel armature.Since its completion, the statue has been dedicated a Tennessee State Monument. Here's an article from The Tennessean about the project...NASHVILLE --- Tennessee State University track-and-field athletes have won more Olympic medals than most countries have won. Now, TSU is paying tribute to those athletes with a special event. TSU will have the dedication of its new Olympic Plaza on Saturday, May 28, at 10 a.m. The Olympic Plaza is located on the north end of the main campus, next to the Gentry Center. The dedication will be the official introduction of the Olympic Plaza to the public. TSU has a rich and storied tradition of Olympic history, producing 59 Olympic athletes, who have captured 17 gold, eight silver and seven bronze medals. The Olympic Plaza will be a symbol of the TSU Olympic tradition and a permanent tribute to legendary coach Ed Temple and the achievements of all TSU Olympians, including Wilma Rudolph, Ralph Boston, Wyomia Tyus, Edith McGuire Duvall, and Chandra Cheeseborough and, most recently, Paralympian Ryan Fann. The Olympian is an impressive structure that stands more than 46 feet tall. The plaza will be adorned with commemorative bricks bearing the names of all past TSU Olympians and will have space available for bricks for future Olympians from the university.
