About Ronald C. Deis, Ph.D.

I am a food scientist - now retired - with over 45 years experience in food ingredient innovation, technical service and applications, product development in several CPG companies, and over 30 years as a technical writer. In my career, I was deeply involved in nutritive and non-nutritive sweetener development and the evaluation and development of sugar bulking agents including polyols, oligosaccharides and rare sugars. I have also written numerous articles (many for Food Product Design as an editor for 15 years), opinion papers and chapters for several books on sweeteners. I was on the Board and Executive Council for Calorie Control Council (attending for >30 years), am a founding Board member of Penn State’s Center for Food Innovation and a member of the Advisory Board for the Dept. of Hospitality. I am a long-standing member of IFT, AACCI, and AACT.
