I help organizations and leaders get better. I love healthy teams and helping to create them. I have a diversified background, having been a senior leader in the marketplace, government, nonprofits and the church.I held leadership positions throughout high school, but my first paid leadership role came at the age of 19. During and after college, I worked in retail for the Belk Corporation, completing a two-year management training program and then held numerous management positions. Afterward, I was self-employed as a small business owner, including starting one company and buying and selling another. At the age of 38, I entered vocational ministry. God provided and I have served 6 churches in 21 years (4 established churches and 2 church plants) - as well as multiple shorter-term interim roles. God blessed with success in each one. My secular experience certainly made me more aware of the daily struggles of the people in the pews. I know every believer’s calling is unique and vital to the Kingdom. I had the honor of serving as CEO of Leadership Network, an organization that convenes innovative leaders and churches in collaborative conversations to accelerate growth and innovation. I did a year at Brentwood Baptist in a newly created role but quickly learned it was not a role they wanted or needed at the time. (We parted on good terms.) Covid taught me that I love leading a team, being on the ground helping to make things happen. I have had a consulting practice for almost 20 years and will continue helping organizations get better. But I'm back leading in the local church again. (And we didn't see it coming, but I'm back at the same church where we previously served.) I feel strongly that part of being a Kingdom-builder is being a community builder, so I have always been active in community engagement and plan to continue doing so. The work of the church is far more than on Sunday morning. I have served on dozens of non-profit boards at the local, state and national levels. Further enhancing my career experience, I once served as city councilperson, vice-mayor, and chair of the finance committee for a mid-sized city. One of my driving passions is helping other leaders succeed. I don’t have all the answers. But I usually know where to find them. I believe in a collaborative approach and I can help your team find the right solutions for your current context. Under the right circumstances, you can hire me as an “adjunct staff member” to add capacity to your team. I am also a conference speaker, preacher, and author.

Transition PastorGreen Hills Community Church Nov 2021 - Mar 2022Helped the church position themselves to realize their next great season of ministry.Helped find the next great pastor to begin June 2022.From someone on the search committee: "As a search committee, we were dejected after another candidate fell through. That’s where Ron came in: Ron took an overwhelming task of restarting our search process, put deadlines to it, organized us as a team, and presented well-qualified candidates to us — all while giving us a break over Christmas!I would only recommend Ron if you want an efficient search process that is still covered in prayer, consideration, and a deep understanding of who your church is, and the type of leader it needs. Which is to say: I’d always recommend him. Ron spurred us to action in areas that would unite us further, and provide a more attractive environment for the next leader."

Brentwood Region Lead Campus PastorBrentwood Baptist Church Oct 2020 - Aug 2021Brentwood, Tn, UsBrentwood Baptist Church’s pastor at the time was Mike Glenn. We are both wired to love big ideas. We enjoy change and seeking what Mike has long called "Future Church". I like to be a part of making other staff members dreams become a reality and seeing the vision of the church realized.Mike was the first person to contact me when we were leaving Dallas and moving to Nashville. He said, "We have to have you on our team." This job was supposed to combine my skills, passions and interests. Among other things, I attempted to:*Empower the staff for maximum efficiency and alignment*Eliminate needless bureaucracy - move the needle to more of a "Yes" culture*Lead new initiatives and build momentum*Energize Brentwood Baptist to be on mission every day *Mobilize church members to engage in marketplace missions*Communicate to the church opportunities for mission and service (I became known as the Friday email guy.) *Remodel dated facilityServing on the executive leadership team, I was also able to speak into changes needed in governing structure, creating a church planting network, and some staff realignment. -
Intentional Interim PastorFirst Baptist Church, Clarksville, Tn Feb 2020 - Sep 2020Clarksville, Tn, UsWhat is an intentional interim? http://ronedmondson.com/2020/02/what-is-an-intentional-interim-pastor.htmlIn a 180+ year old church, I focused on revitalization in a number of “big bucket” initiatives:*Refocused church/staff on adult discipleship*Inspired a successful passing new bylaws and policies to allow more efficient governing (fewer committees, quarterly business meetings, etc.) *Helped staff organization, communication and efficiency*Assisted the pastor search process - New pastor named and began Dec 2020*Focused on building maintenance and restoration*Combined traditional and modern worship services into one inter generational worship experience*Led through a pandemic*Launched online “campus” experiences - reaching 4 times as many prior to pandemic*Brought sense of hope and encouragement to staff, volunteers and the churchEndorsement from the new pastor, Dr. Ronny Raines:"Ron helped me process the decision to leave Florida, and move to Tennessee. He gave me a picture of FBC Clarksville's current reality. Ron provided me with their weakness, challenges, strengths, and opportunities. God used those conversations to help me know and do His will. Ron loves the Lord Jesus and His church. He is a credible, visionary leader, and he has a heart and passion for church health. Ron leads local churches to think about their past, their present, and their future. He is excellent at helping churches and leaders strategize and seek God's preferred future. Ron is an excellent leader to help your church make a pastoral transition with intentionality and unity. CeoLeadership Network Jun 2018 - Jan 2020Jacksonville, Fl, UsLeadership Network is the premier leadership collaborative for pastors and churches. Though my tenure was short, I strived to reposition, right-size and redirect a 35 year-old organization. In many ways it felt like church revitalization all over again. It was a great experience and I’m thankful for the time. I learned something new everyday and made some incredible connections. After achieving initial goals and a new direction, realizing I would not love what my role would be over the next few years (managing and fundraising), I felt it was best to step aside. It was encouraging to hear from board members, donors and the founder's widow who were all appreciative of my tenure. The organization merged with Exponential with many of the same initiatives we began still in place. It’s a great season ahead for LN. -
