As a deep-rooted HR generalist with more than 25 years’ experience in the field across various industries, my greatest professional commendations from others are that I am a high performing and trusted leader, unconventional solution seeker, revered confidante and empowerment champion. I have been in the employ of the public service, higher education, managed my own HR consultancy for seven years and served as Board member at an NGO before rejoining mainstream employment at a state owned entity and then moved to a multi-national organization that employs more than 80 000 employees worldwide. I was employed at Phillip Morris International in 2014 as a Human Resources Manager and as a consequence of their robust talent management process, I was identified as a suitable candidate for a General Management (GM) role. As part of my Accelerated Development Programme, I was placed into a Regional Sales Manager role to manage the largest region within the Southern African market and successfully led the team to achieve a year on year growth of 12% in the first year and 11% in the second, whilst simultaneously introducing a new product to the market. The principles applied and methods deployed were akin to that of a start-up. Thereafter, I was moved into a Commercial Organisation Development management role where I had to conceptualise and implement strategies to capacitate and develop the commercial organisation to deliver on the new transformation journey the organisation embarked on. My commercial exposure and success during the various stages, phases and environments in my career, position me favourably to ensure that the HR function delivers on the bottom line in a dynamic and tangible way. I find myself holding the enviable status of having achieved great success both within HR and in disciplines so far removed from HR. My skills set is a combination of commercial acumen and an in-depth and sincere understanding of people.
