Part of the Immunology team which study the Anti-Inflammatory Activity of Different Cannabis Extracts on autoimmune diseases.• Extraction of immune cell sub-population from whole blood using commercial kits and cell sorting technology (FACS aria fusion).• Examination of cell signaling pathways in which cannabis extracts affect different types of immune cells by flow cytometry and western blot.• In-vitro Differentiation and expansion on naive immune cells.

Production and purification of recombinant protein: Antibodies, Fab, Bi-specific and MHC complexes. • Transfection to Cell lines and hybridomas.• Protein purification using AKTA system (TALON Metal Affinity, Ion exchange, Sephaorse beads and Protein-A).• Performing chemical modification such as biotinylation (BirA and EZ-link).• Monitoring protein QC via several analytical methods (recovery assay, FPLC: SEC. dot blot, aggregation Index).Participating in a group task for identifying novel cancer biomarkers using bioinformatics tools • Filtering potentials cancer peptides by looking at their presence/absent in normal tissues using in-house Excel database.• Examining the potential target expression (RNA and protein) using web databases (cBioPortal, G-TEX and firebrowse).• Examining RNA expression for a potential target by molecular biology methods (RNA extraction from tissue sample, cDNA synthesis and running qPCR using TaqMan probes.• Accumulating data on potential targets using literatures, patent database and clinical trials.• Peptide extraction from normal/cancer tissue in order to locate potential targets via MS.

Chemically modifying and improving drugs (Biobetter) currently in R&D pipeline. • Chemically modifying enzymes and antibodies in order to increase drug efficacy/stability (coupling polymers, addition of functional groups, isoelectric point alteration and molecular masking).• Performing initial experiments on potential projects under evaluation as a proof of concept (Data mining, building presentations, developing analytical methods).• Scaling up the modified reaction for preparation of animal studies.• Writing and summarizing reports of analytical methods for future use by other departments.• Developing an orthogonal method for characterization and quantification of glyco- saccharine found on different stages of drug manufacturing.

Working as part of a team at the Biochem department which develops a novel CF drug utilizing a unique plant cell platform.Major duties of this project:• Developing and performing pre-clinical efficacy tests of the drug on treated sputum samples using rheology methods.• Establishing and maintaining CF patients' data base for statistical analysis using JMP (SAS) software.• Performing analysis to quantify and activity of the drug in extracted organs received from animal experiments.• Carrying out routine quantification and characterization analyses of the drug using biochemistry methods.• Providing analytical services to other departments, which include determining efficiency production and functionality of the drug.

Setting up the procedures for new projects in a new operating research lab.• Exercising Molecular biology procedures on a daily bases; Autoradiography, cloning and Bioinformatic tools.• Assistance and guidance to PhD and Masters students in establishing proper laboratory operating procedures. • Carrying out routine maintenance on standard laboratory/departmental equipment. • Responsible for ordering and maintaining inventory of lab equipments/products.

Managing all the research aspects, conducting experiments, establishing novel protocols.Proficient in all molecular tools stated bellow:• Molecular genetics in bacteria- RACE (rapid amplification of cDNA ends), plasmid construction, plasmid transformation and cloning.• Nucleic Acids autoradiography assays- in-vitro transcription, electrophoretic mobility shift assay (EMSA), S1 nuclease protection assay and Northern blot analysis.• Protein biochemistry- Western blot analysis, protein analysis using SDS-PAGE, small and medium scale production of proteins and affinity chromatography.• Bioinformatic tools- BLAST, Multiple sequence alignment, RNA secondary structure prediction (RNAfold), DNA binding domain prediction, protein folding prediction (PSIpred and Swiss PDB viewer).
