I am a graduate of Illinois State University with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education. During my undergraduate career, some of the organizations I worked closely with were College Mentor for Kids, United Greek Council, Order of Omega, and the Gamma Alpha chapter of Omega Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated. I completed my clinical experiences in the Thomas Metcalf Laboratory School for multiple grades and Clinton Elementary School for 5th grade. I student taught in Dr. Maude A Saunders Primary school in Peoria, IL., for 4th grade.Currently, I am a 2nd Grade General Education Teacher in Berwyn District 98. I am also obtaining a Master of Arts in Trauma-Informed Leadership at Dominican University. My philosophy for becoming an educator means having constant love, appreciation, compassion, and dedication toward students. Community is such a vital asset not only in a classroom setting but beyond school buildings. It builds on students' knowledge and understanding of the world around them, potentially what they bring to the classroom. My goal in education is to support and guide students in the direction of achieving their dreams while also providing a safe, healthy, and positive environment for their learning. Furthermore, I hope to further my education in the future with a Master's program that, in hopes, allows me to learn how to better support and provide students with more insightful resources in growing and contributing to their respective communities. Equity and inclusion are a priority I believe every educator must uphold to make every student feel accepted and confident in their ability to grow every day.
