Led the establishment of Bronswerk Marine’s European operations following a period of detailed analysis on all aspects of the European ship building market. As General Manager, recruited highly skilled staff from competitors and developed the sales pipeline for the operation.Assumed responsibility for growing global sales in the marine segment for Bronswerk, including management of sales offices in Canada, United States, Germany, China and a network of agents in other countries. This role included the following achievements:• Identified new services to provide to clients, to enhance Bronswerk’s value proposition;• Developed and enhanced the visibility of the sales pipeline;• Developed KPIs for successful sales;• Reduced lead times for responding to RFQ’s by half; and• Developed a standard book of components.Bronswerk Marine Inc. is a global provider of HVAC-R solutions for the merchant marine, military and offshore industries.

Managed the transformation of the company from a small subsidiary of a major public company to a group of private equity based shareholders with a vision for growth and new business opportunities.Oversaw the diversification of procurement, from being largely German-centric, to a broad international base of suppliers including the development of manufacturing components in China. Restructured the project management and engineering design operations of the company to change from a silo approach to a cross discipline project/customer focus. Engaged and worked alongside skilled Lean Sigma consultants to redesign internal processes to reduce errors, lower costs and boost productivity.Developed the company’s operations right from the naval architect phase through to installation and commissioning, extending the company’s reach and helping to reduce costs for shipbuilders.Developed and introduced a project risk management framework and clear operating procedures to improve contract profitability across the life of the contract. Reversed the loss of core engineering skills by implementing a new culture, promoting core values and clear operating principles. Developed engineering and design operations in offshore markets to overcome shortages of engineers in Germany and to develop the company’s international sales resources.Noske-Kaeser is a global supplier of engineering solutions and components for air handling and fire fighting to the naval, merchant and cruise shipping industries. The company has operations in nine countries and sales in excess of €100 million per annum.

Designed and delivered a process improvement program called VIA, ‘Visibility, Improvement, Alignment’ to a number of Hawaiian businesses.

Developed alliances and business opportunities for LxLi in the United States and Canada. Increased revenue by 30% in the first 12 months.Worked with a number of multi-site clients to deliver supply chain solutions in the retail and distribution sectors, including distribution centre optimisation, resource and facility planning, operational turnaround and network modeling. An area of focus was labor relations and management of unions and employees through periods of change. LxLi was a leading engineering consultancy in the areas of supply chains, methods engineering and work measurement – now part of West Monroe Partners.

Responsibilities included design and implementation of a new supply chain strategy, operational responsibility for the export shipping division, transportation and the distribution centers. This included:• Built relationships with major international customers in Japan, South East Asia, the Middle East and South America.• Reduced costs across the supply chain, including a 30% reduction in overhead in the largest distribution centre, improved transportation productivity by 20%, developed an employee productivity incentive across all distribution centers that resulted in a 30% increase in productivity.• Designed and implemented a new budgeting system across the entire supply chain that allowed all operations to be managed within budget.Bonlac Foods was a major supplier of milk products in Australia with a supply chain spanning over 120 countries. It was acquired by Fonterra Co-operative Group in 2003 and is now part of Fonterra’s Australian operations.

Began as a Project Engineer in 1990; rose rapidly through the company to oversee more than 120 engineers and logisticians, with responsibility for productivity improvement, change management and supply chain integration across all of Loblaw’s operations, including manufacturing, transportation, distrubtion/warehousing and retail operations. Loblaw Companies is Canada’s largest retailer with more than 1,400 outlets and sales in 2012 of C$31.6 billion.
