With a degree in Computer Engineering from the University of Michigan, I got my start in this industry working with AI/Expert Systems in the automotive industry, where I led the enhancement and maintenance of a multi-million dollar expert system providing a quality assurance platform to circuit board designers.Later, as co-founder and CTO of the Internet security firm Evinci, I designed and built ThreatSmart, a multi-platform Security Event and Incident Management (SEIM) system with a Windows front-end, MSSQL and Oracle databases, and a custom Linux-based network appliance. I carried that expertise to Perimeter E-Security, where in addition to working with Internet security technology, I led the design and development of numerous applications. While at Perimeter, I was responsible for opening a satellite office in Grand Rapids, MI. Here I recruited and managed a team of developers focused on the research and development of new technologies to advance Perimeter's line of security-based SAAS offerings. From there, I moved into the health care industry when I joined the Spectrum Health and Priority Health system based in Grand Rapids, MI. At Spectrum, I've had the opportunity to work with a wide range of technologies, including Oracle database design and programming, web service implementation, and both front-end and back-end application design and development across a number of different platforms. Eventually specializing on quality assurance, I have championed QA automation across the enterprise, developing a framework for automated web service testing and leading training sessions in automation for other QA professionals.Specialties: Software engineering, software architecture, QA automation, requirements analysis, knowledge bases and expert systems, Internet security, R&D and rapid prototyping, programming and scripting in various languages, Linux system administration, database design and programming, object-oriented development, team lead, agile development.
