About Rong Chen

I am the Head of Bioinformatics and Computational Biology at AbbVie, a global biopharmaceutical company with a focus on innovation and patient-centricity. With a PhD in Bioinformatics and an MSc in Analytical Chemistry, I have more than 20 years of experience in applying bioinformatics, data science, genetics, and genomics to various domains, such as oncology, rare disease, immunology, and neuroscience. My mission is to leverage big data and artificial intelligence to accelerate and optimize drug discovery and development across all therapeutic areas. I lead a team of 80 scientists who collaborate with internal and external partners to integrate and analyze multi-Omics, functional, clinical, and RWD data to provide innovative and actionable insights from exploratory, early stage, to late stage drug discovery. I have published over 100 papers in prestigious journals, such as Cell, Nature Biotechnology, and Lancet, and have established interdisciplinary teams and networks across the diagnostic, pharmaceutical, healthcare, and informatics industries. My goal is to transform healthcare by delivering personalized and precise medicine to the right patients at the right time.
