• Develop embedded software using Z80 assembly language and the ‘C’ language. S/W developed interfaced with custom designed printed circuit boards as well as off the shelf components (temperature controllers, servo drives, solenoid valves, fiber optic amplifiers, and PC’s).• Develop simulators to test the interface to the handler. This was used to simulate many types of tester commands (RS-232 serial P849 protocol, GPIB protocol, and discrete parallel) and how the handler would respond back.• S/W maintenance for prior handler designs. This included ‘bug’ fixes as well as customer requested options.• Use many test equipment (voltmeters, oscilloscopes, logic analyzer, high speed camera) to analyze handler operations.• Designed custom Printed Circuit boards for use inside of handler as well as test fixtures. PADS s/w was used for both schematic layout and PCB layout.• Create upgrade and electronic specification documentation.• Work with other team design members to come up with solutions to customer requests and/or issues.• Used technical documents whenever possible to aid in the design of the product being developed.• Create a test plan to test new hardware and software designs.• Performed electrical test on newly designed electrical hardware to meet design criteria.• Fully document design for production release paying attention to detail and accuracy. This included low/high voltage wiring, printed circuit board assemblies, creating technical documentation, and generating complete Engineering Change Orders.• Interface with contract software engineers and assist them with any electrical or software needs.• Assist manufacturing on debugging handler problems before shipment.• Provided customer support for both internal and external customers.• Traveled to national and international customer sites to troubleshoot customer equipment and also to install new mechanical and/or software upgrades.
