Roni Bennett is an accomplished leader and the driving force behind South Florida People of Color (SFPoC), formerly known as Miami Shores People of Color, Inc. As the Executive Director and Co-founder, Roni has harnessed her extensive experience in both technical and management roles at renowned technology giants such as IBM, HP, and AT&T to shape SFPoC into a dynamic force for positive change.With over 25 years of dedicated service in project and program management for complex technical and global initiatives, Roni possesses a unique skill set that is invaluable to SFPoC's mission. Her expertise extends to building robust business relationships at all levels within organizations, contributing to the success of SFPoC's operations.Under Roni's visionary leadership, SFPoC has introduced a range of groundbreaking initiatives, including the "Awkward Dinner" series, which earned acclaim and recognition in the PhilanthropyMiami Shark Tank competition in 2018. The organization's Unity360 Community Dialogues, another award-winning endeavor, has brought together diverse communities through open dialogues and cultural events. Additionally, SFPoC has launched the Unity360 Critical Film Series, and successfully curated event programming for occasions like Black History Month. Furthermore, Roni has spearheaded the establishment of the Unity360 Institute, a platform offering a comprehensive curriculum designed to challenge social norms, dismantle supremacist ideologies, and empower individuals to unlearn deeply ingrained biases.At the heart of Roni's mission is the vision to create a more equitable South Florida, where diverse voices are respected, and empowered communities flourish. SFPoC's core activities focus on education, dialogue, and advocacy, emphasizing healing, equity, and inclusive leadership. Roni's ultimate goal is to have a lasting, positive impact on the lives of South Florida residents by uniting diverse communities, empowering individuals to confront their biases, and fostering a just and inclusive society.Roni's dedication to this cause has not gone unnoticed. In 2017, she received the prestigious Rodney Thaxton Racial Justice Award from the Greater Miami Chapter of the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), acknowledging her significant contributions to advancing racial justice and equality in the region.
