Working as a Co Host for the midday show on Spice Radio 1200AM is a tremendous experience. The midday show takes place from 2-6PM and incorporates music and several host breaks. During those breaks, I focus on current events in Vancouver, the latest trends in film and music, and sports within the local community. I’ve learned the importance of show prep and various ways to utilize your voice to send a message and set the tone. Our job is to entertain and provide an enjoyable experience for listeners. I also conduct hourly news updates and traffic reports three times an hour during the broadcast. In addition to announcing on air, I’m responsible for blogging on the website. With blogging I interview various writers in the industry and engage in a discussion that is sports driven.

The working environment at the Vancouver Canucks headquarters allowed me to develop a diverseskill set in web design and reporting. Maintaining and updating the website with the latestinformation, it was my responsibility to provide website support that is technical and editorial, suchas updating content and writing features. The duties changed daily, as the team was either at homeor on the road. There was no typical workday, a fact that I loved about the job. While working with the marketing team, I was responsible for tracking all sponsor and internal initiatives in print, digital, television and all other promotional material. I published features that covered the Canucks and their community related events for Canucks.com. On game nights I completed post-game updates which included cropping and posting photos, obtaining quotes, building game recaps as well as updating various sections of the website. I assisted in building E-marketing communication pieces for Canucks initiatives such as Canucks E-News, a weekly newsletter that goes out to nearly 10,000 subscribers. This experience taught me how to self-edit for tight, effective, precise communication – all under the pressures of a deadline.

Responsible for writing articles on a weekly basis discussing the world of sports. The primary focus was on local teams, such as the Vancouver Canucks and the BC Lions. I was also given weekly assignments to create features and editorials on events taking place around the Burnaby campus.

I was a member of the Intranet redevelopment team. I was responsible for bringing in clientele and various vendors to assist with our internal objects. While coordinating the needs of our stakeholders, I developed user surveys and usability sessions amongst the 12 member committee. After five months, our communications team successfully implemented a private network accessible to the organization's staff. I produced business reports that contain information from vendors and presented the rollout plan for a 200+ person organization
