My responsibilities as Hydraulics Manager at Forsgren include mentoring and managing staff. Pursuing new and diverse clients and projects for my team. Serving others in my company and community as an expert on hydrologic & hydraulic analysis, FEMA regulations, and federal and local floodplain permitting.Some of my recent projects include:Hydraulic analysis and design for a 4-bridge project spanning the Boise River and 2 irrigation canals. Supporting the Canyon Highway District No. 4 with hydraulic analysis and floodplain permitting for several ongoing small bridge replacement projects. Provide support to Madison County, Idaho to analyze and asses their flood risk and develop feasible flood mitigation projects while undergoing flood risk mapping revisions by FEMA.I am also the chairperson of the Northwestern Floodplain Managers Association (NORFMA) Idaho Technical Committee. Which seeks to establish shared goals among Idaho’s flood management community and promote better flood risk management practices statewide by improving flood science, education, and communication, and coordination among floodplain professionals within the state and with ASFPM and NORFMA.

Developed ground and surface water engineering solutions for a wide variety of agricultural, municipal, recreation, industrial, commercial and residential clients. Also working to expand GIS analytics, FEMA permitting and software development services at SPF. Completed watershed Hydrologic and Hydraulic studies. Specializing in computer modeling, GIS analytics, software development and data processing/automation. Much of my work focused on assisting the California Department of Water Resources on planning studies and R&D. Taking recently developed tools and information and applying them in novel ways to improve capability. Created and delivered presentations summarizing projects and outcomes to clients as well as professional organizations and conferences. Some of my projects include:Applied new hydrologic models to augment inflow forecasting capability at Lake Oroville. Developed a software tool to reduce forecast processing time by 1800%. Hydraulic routing of forecasted flows to improve downstream forecasting capability.Levee breach scenario modeling using real-time forecasted river information. Led the development of a software tool to allowing emergency operations staff to simulate levee breaches based on real-time river data.

One of the only associate engineers to be hired without a master’s degree. DFCE has some of the nation’s top experts providing highly complex hydrology and water hydraulic services to agencies such as the USACE and the California DWR. Developed close relationships with senior staff while working on highly technical projects. Under guidance of senior staff, completed H&H studies, modeling, floodplain analyses, and planning studies.

Prepared layouts and drawings of a mechanical nature in AutoCAD. Assist senior staff in all aspects of project development from preliminary design through manufacturing and change orders.

Performed office & field hydrologic engineering work and related work of average difficulty. Responsible for project research, data acquisition & processing, data manipulation using spreadsheets and report and presentation development.

Supervised 5 lifeguards at community lake. Responsible for staff scheduling, weekly progress reports, employee payroll, water quality monitoring and patron relations.

Coached junior varsity baseball at an Spring Valley High School. Independently developed team training and practice regimen, mentored players on and off the field. Responsible for communication with parents and coaches as well as periodically informing school officials of team progress.
