This was a planned national Outlet retailer that failed due to lack of adequate funding.I designed the specifications for the technology infrastructure for this new start-up company utilizing an ASP business model. I assisted in the building of the detailed Business Plan, the financial forecasts, and proforma models, and participated in multiple presentations to potential venture capitalists.

National Party Goods RetailerI served as sole executive guiding the company through wind-down after a buyout by a major competitor, ensuring that all employees were treated fairly, and honestly. I was the Project Lead on the revamping of the packaged replenishment system resulting in improved turn, lowered inventory, and reduced out-of-stocks. I was the Project Lead on the replacement selection committee for the existing Fujitsu Atrium point-of-sale systems (P.O.S.). I supported the efforts of the Employee Environment Team (EET) as the management liaison in all corporate office morale boosting activities. I guided the efforts of the P.O.S. Wish List Committee through three successive projects and software upgrade roll-outs.

I managed the upgrade process of the corporate ERP software package (Island Pacific) through three major releases and multiple smaller cyclical updates. I managed the installation and implementation of the company's first LAN, enabling file and printer sharing and a common backup methodology for all users.I managed the installation and implementation of Lotus Notes email and groupware system.I oversaw the formal creation and implementation of a Help Desk department to support the stores and field organization, with formal policies and procedures.

I was the Project Lead for the implementation of Price Removal, which entailed the use of a new shelf pricing system that eliminated the need to ticket each product, resulting in savings of approximately $1M per year in direct labor costs.I was the Project Lead for developing the first official P.O.S. Wish List committee, and guiding it through the process of a major P.O.S. replacement and enhancement roll-out.I revamped all Data Center back-up processes into a more formal Disaster Recovery process, including hardware upgrades from magnetic tape to tape cartridge technology.I assisted in the implementation of EDI, and made all initial vendor contacts.

As the first IS employee, I built the entire department including the Data Center, network, and infrastructure, from scratch. I hired the entire staff, including three Programmer/Analysts, one Operations Supervisor, and five Operators (24/7 Operations). I defined the requirements, reviewed the alternatives, and helped select the vendor, then serving as Project Lead on the implementation of our new corporate ERP (Lawson) system.I designed and built a new corporate multi-drop leased-line network to facilitate data communications to and from the stores.I implemented PLU and price removal eliminating $3 million annual expenses.I implemented a hand-held computer system to automate all in-store functions.

Oversaw staff of six Analysts and Programmers supporting the sales audit, P.O.S., price change, warehousing and distribution systems.Implemented corporate EDI system eliminating paper purchase orders and invoices.

Renegotiated national contract with NCR substantially lowering support costs for on-site maintenance at all stores.Project Leader responsible for planning, development, and implementation of a new P.O.S. System (IBM 4680) and managed the pilot process.

Revamped distribution system picking methodology (pick by Vendor, with a “sell one / ship one” daily process) for both regional distribution centers.

Hired the staff and built a profit center for supporting our Franchise network of independent store owners with their P.O.S. systems. Developed the Point of Sale system for new stores.

Responsible for what was then a leading edge NCR based POS system.

Worked part-time throughout college in various positions as I was needed. Continued on with the company after graduating and was immediately assigned store management positions in New Orleans.Returned to the home office after 18 months and assisted in the computer “upgrade”, eventually taking over the data processing department.
