One of my key roles, is supporting the college’s Student Services by providing bespoke support as well as key information to support the college’s tutorial activities. Ronnie's role is to fully support the RESPECT and Prevent agendas. Ronnies activities will reflect local, national and global issues including teenage pregnancy, alcohol and drug misuse, anti-bullying and smoking cessation. Ronnie will deliver to large audiences, smaller groups and 1-1 support. Ronnie will implement and monitor college processes to ensure that vulnerable groups have appropriate access to various support mechanisms, to help identify clients to access services such as counselling, healthcare and drug and alcohol support . To attend case conferences, child in need conferences and multi-agency conferences as appropriate.

Ronnie is a key member of the team at We Do Health & Safety, delivering a full range of services including drug and alcohol testing, policy implementation and consultation. to help employers minimise the impact of drugs and alcohol in the workplace. As a qualified teacher he has been invited to many schools and colleges where his vast knowledge of substance use is very highly acclaimed, also developing schools develop their PHSE and CPD programmes. Being invited as a guest lecturer to the armed forces, universities training social workers, and now leads programmes of work with employers which demonstrate the positive impact that an effective drug and alcohol management policy and programme can deliver in terms of profit, staff engagement and workforce well-being. Ronnie is trained and able to support employers and schools in the implementation of all aspects of treatment, management and harm minimisation for those suffering from drug and alcohol addiction . He was a senior practitioner in treatment of users of Class A drugs for fifteen years. He continues to successfully help many users and rehabilitate them, enabling them to return to employment or to continue education .

Leads on establishing how staff well-being and effectiveness are affected by drugs and alcohol, and leads programmes to minimise the impact of substance abuse to employers. I consulted to many educational establishments and businesses on drugs & alcohol management, policy, development and impact reduction.

Working in Darlington, I led delivery of a continuous programme to engage young people in an effective social norms approach, tackling risk taking behaviours, including drugs, alcohol and smoking in Darlington. I used a combination of an on-line anonymous survey and follow up teaching and positive message-based campaigns to get across up-to date accurate information, showing:• The majority of young people do not drink, use drugs or indulge in risky behaviours• Alcohol use in young people reduced from 29% to 18% in 4 years• Drug use in young people reduced from 20% to 9% in 4 years
