Course Description: Provides an overview of relevant management principles and practices as applied in contemporary formal and informal organizations. Focuses on management theories, philosophies, and functions.

The Director of Undergraduate Research is responsible for providing leadership in developing and enhancing undergraduate students’ experience through engagement in research, inquiry, innovation, and/or other scholarly projects on the Daytona Beach campus. This includes supporting and expanding the current undergraduate research programs, overseeing all aspects of the Undergraduate Research Office (OUR), ensuring OUR is supporting the strategic initiatives of the University, and working with faculty to facilitate research and creative experiences for undergraduates.

• Oversee student-facing communications, including departmental newsletter. Organize, market, and advise OUR Ambassador Program.• Manage the hiring, training, and supervising all student assistants to ensure the Office of Undergraduate Research is adequately staffed to meet operational needs with assistants from the Business Manager. • Promote student submission of research work to the undergraduate research journal, coordinating with Prescott and Worldwide undergraduate research teams to ensure submissions from all three campuses• Assist the Director in facilitating the Discovery Scholars pre-orientation program.• Coordinate student participation in and accompany students to the Florida Undergraduate Research Conference, National Conference on Undergraduate Research, and other undergraduate research conferences and events as approved by the Director. • Coordinate with the Director to host a campus research symposium each semester

• Design, coordinate, and implement orientation programs for new undergraduate and graduate students, transfer and international students, and family members of first year students. • Coordinate the development and delivery of programs, slide shows, skits, receptions, informational sessions and entertainment events during Orientations, in collaboration with a variety of campus departments and outside vendors.• Collaborate with Admissions, First Year Programs, Housing & Residence Life, International Student Services, and the four colleges to promote effective communication, joint planning, and continued transition support for new students. • Maintain access to Admissions, Registration & Records, and Housing data on incoming students to accurately accommodate, coordinate and personalize programs. • Manage the budgets, assessments, and strategic planning for Orientation. Communications and Marketing: • Develop and manage the communications strategy for the department – including the use of social media, Connection, digital signage, email, and e-newsletters.• Manage the Orientation website that introduces, educates, and centralizes campus information aimed at orienting new students and parents to ERAU and promoting a successful transition to college.• Partner with the Dean of Students Office and Enrollment Management to support communications for families that provides information to parents about current campus trends and connects parents of current ERAU students to resources on campus. • Develop and manage the student leadership programs focused on orientation and communications.• Serve as an adjunct professor for first year seminar courses at Embry – Riddle Aeronautical University (University 101) and Daytona State College (Student Life Skills)

• Facilitate the planning, coordination, and execution of New Student and Extended Orientation (F.I.R.S.T. Days) programs for approximately 1200 incoming freshmen for the 2016-2017 academic year• Coordinate, select, develop, and supervise NODA Summer Graduate Interns & 20 Orientation Leaders that participate in the daily operations of New Student Orientation, Summer Bridge, and Extended Orientation (F.I.R.S.T. Days) events• Collaborate with campus, community, alumni stakeholders to implement a holistic orientation experience for incoming freshmen, international, and transfer students• Design and maintain marketing communications to prospective students and families participating in New Student Orientation to foster an effective enrollment process• Develop and maintain New Student Orientation program budgets, assessment, and strategic planning to ensure continuous improvement

• Instruct over 75 to 100 first year students in Freshman Seminar I, II, and Sophomore Seminar courses, in addition to coordinating community outreach opportunities within the local school district • Maintain fluency and familiarity with indicators that require students to be referred to a counselor, such as personal counseling, career counseling, new probation or dismissal, and undecided students• Provides assistance with students continuing academic probation or continuing dismissal, dual-enrollment high school students, summer bridge, orientation and graduation applications• Coordinates major specific community outreach projects by way of collaborations and partnerships with the local K - 12 school system • Create and implement mentor programs for at risk male students within the first year and in the local K - 12 system

• Assume the role of primary academic and career advisor/coach for around 450 students in the College of Education (COE); develop and implement programs and services for freshmen, sophomores, juniors, and seniors• Utilize a combination of proactive, intrusive, & appreciative Academic Advising models to build relationships with new and current students to support student success and retention• Operate as student advocate and mentor, acting as liaison among students, faculty, college departments, and community resources to ensure a seamless transition for students
