Ronnie's career encompasses a vast array from sports management to mediation. It began in 1976 at UCI, when he was hired by the Athletic Director to be the first ever Student AD. After graduating UCI he joined Jack Kent Cooke, owner of the LA Lakers & Kings, in marketing/promotions. In '79, Cooke sold to Dr. Jerry Buss & Ronnie worked alongside Buss until 1994.1982 Dr. Buss's eldest, Johnny, teamed with Ronnie to create the Major Indoor Soccer League's LA Lazers. 1990 Johnny & Ronnie created Buss-Weinstein productions to create music television for tweens. Soon thereafter, Ronnie was lured back into sports by Dr. Buss & Jerry Colangelo, then owner of the Phoenix Suns & AZ Diamondbacks. With their guidance, Ronnie built what many will argue was the most successful pro league, at inception, ever created in the US; Continental Indoor Soccer League. It was the first single entity league in the US & grew to 15 teams with 50% profitable by year 3, secured a 3 year TV deal with FOX Sports & a 3-year, multi-million dollar deal with GM. In 1999, Ronnie stepped away from sports to dedicate his attention to his mediation practice. In '05, Ronnie founded Newport Beach Mediation. In 2017 Johnny & Jeanie Buss & the Lakers Legal team, reached out to Ronnie requesting he intervene in order to prevent any escalation of tension & legal challenges within the Buss/Laker Family. Ronnie has since worked closely with them on a number of fronts from the Lakers, to Johnny's purchase of the Ice House comedy club in Pasadena. Within Ronnie’s extensive history with Dr. Buss, he considers his accomplishments within the Buss family the most rewarding of his career. One that outshines the rest took place In early 2019. Ronnie & his son, Britton, were gifted with the most beautiful experience of his “Laker” career. April 2019, they were on a hiking trip in the Grand Canyon & Sedona, AZ. On route to Sedona, Ronnie reached out to Lee Klose. Who is Lee? Lee, is a full biological sibling to Johnny, Jim, Jeanie & Janie Buss & a half sister to Joey & Jesse Buss. What makes this story so intriguing is that she didn’t discover her birth parents, Jerry & Joann Buss, or siblings until the end of 2018 at age 65. Britton & Ronnie were fortunate to be the first to meet her, sharing a 5 hr dinner, in Sedona & put all the pieces of the puzzle together for her. Not only has Ronnie made strides weaving her into the family, Lee has become a “Weinstein family” member. She bestowed upon Ronnie the most heartfelt compliment; Nicknamed him Clarence. The angel from the movie, “It’s a Wonderful Life”.
