Technical Manager of a busy dyehouse, processing mainly wool/nylon blend yarns for production into woven and tufted carpets for some of the world's most prestigious customers. In 20 years at UCM I have established and developed 'Blind Dyeing' techniques through continuous innovation and investment always seeking to reduce costs and to eliminate process waste. In recent years I have led the introduction of package dyeing at Ulster using Obem horizontal dye machines. This has now been developed into a new build dyehouse introducing robotisation for all package movements from loading on to spindles, dyeing to hydro-extraction and drying and unload. All salt, chemicals and dyestuffs are precision dosed using Lawer dispensing systems both for laboratory and bulk processing. Batches 2.5 - 750kgs are processed on a 'Right First Time' basis with a high degree of reproducibility and accuracy. The company now has a dyeing facility comparable to any in the world of textiles and is well positioned to take advantage of the opportunities this brings in an ever changing world market.

I developed a pre-existing dyeing operation to process technical fabrics for a wide range of end uses from mail bags to multi-national defense and security uniforms including those used by leading names in the coating and laminating industries.
