As a principal consultant, my responsibilities span across the whole scale of our accessibility services, from high quality auditing and reviews to bespoke training sessions and consultancy for remediation and accessibility improvements. - Managing accessibility project as technical project director, ensuring our team delivers the highest quality results with clear and actionable recommendations.- Creating and providing bespoke and in-depth training sessions that bring your team's accessibility knowledge to an actionable level.- Running workshops for awareness, consultation, remediation, etc to provide quick and clear support in projects.- Training up our teams capabilities across all levels, covering the intricacies and nuances of auditing WCAG guidelines, ensuring our knowledge of the ever-changing digital landscape and evolutions in the accessibility field are up-to-date.- Managing the training of the wider organisation in accessibility knowledge, so our other teams, like UX and Dev, have the knowledge they need to deliver accessibility by default.- Managing the quality control of our accessibility offerings, ensuring consistent results.- Supporting our Sales teams to make sure we offer the most efficient and actionable approaches to our clients and to ensure our teams get the time to deliver.I'm also part of the Nomensa Equality, Diversity and Inclusion working group, helping make Nomensa be and stay a welcoming, fair and safe space for everyone to work.

With over 20 years of experience in the field, my journey into web accessibility began with a personal challenge. I developed Repetitive Strain Injury (RSI), leading to bilateral nerve damage from my neck to my hands. This condition, while challenging, opened exposed me to the importance of accessibility in digital spaces.As a web developer, I realized that the very things I was building were not accessible to me due to their lack of keyboard usability and voice control responsiveness. This sparked my dedication to improving web accessibility.To manage my condition, I explored various assistive technologies, including alternative keyboards, trackballs, and voice control systems like Dragon Natural Speaking. Despite the daily pain caused by RSI, accessible technology has enabled me to fully engage in and enjoy my work.As a neurodiverse individual, I also utilize assistive technology in my daily life. I frequently use a screen reader, as auditory information processing is more effective for me than reading.
