Ronodeep is a Counsel with AQUILAW wherein his role is primarily on research on latest developments, tech and economic laws majorly, and writing white paper, journals, thought leadership and the firm’s monthly newsletter, ‘Nota bene’Other than that, he also works with data protection and the proposed Data Privacy Law and Labour, Employment Laws and general corporate advisories.Advising clients primarily around areas of compliance requirements in Employment and Labour Laws, drafting HR letters for employees, drafting notices and replying to legal notices for clients for labour disputes and litigation, due diligence, training and awareness on the new labour codes, corporate advisory on director's disqualification, CSR structuring, private trusts and pubic trusts along with tax implications, general corporate enquiries etc.Ronodeep also has an exposure in corporate transactional engagements such as drafting contracts such as JDAs, service agreements, privacy policies, HR policies, trust deeds, Business Transfer Agreements and JV agreements, conversion of LLP to Pvt Ltd Cos, SPAs etc.Ronodeep has also worked extensively on Tax litigation, Advisory and Tax Advocacy (Income Tax and Indirect Taxes) such as drafting writ petitions (including filing and other court procedures) challenging provisions of the GST and Service Tax laws w.r.t. to validity of Notifications from the lens of constitutionality, taxation of clubs etc, drafting submissions and filing before the ARA and the AARA, preparation of the submission of appeals to Commissioner (Appeals)/ CESTAT for matters relating to erstwhile Service Tax and Excise Duty, GST Impact Assessment in the Real Estate sector - conditions for availment of credit, RCM obligations and ITC reversals as per the March 2019 Notifications; Refund procedures (including computation, filing and documentation) under Excise and GST Laws, advisory and regular client communication for operational issue.

Has substantial experience in advising Indian and Foreign companies on Service Tax, Excise, VAT and GST Laws on transaction structuring, formulating pricing policies, related engagements and other advisory engagements related to transfer pricing;Has been involved in compliance and litigation support to the clients, representing clients in tax assessments and appeals. Also have independently deals with senior counsels for CESTAT appeals;End to end implementation of GST for the ITC Ltd and HUL - Understand the current 'as-is' business process and identify the transactions that would be impacted under the GST regime, preparation of the 'to-be' process to be followed under the GST regime, determining the business impact (in quantitative terms) under GST.Managed a 6-member team, which includes work allotment, delivery review, time management, initial review for appraisal etc.

COMMERCIALS: Documentation and correspondence with banks and vendors for issuance of Letter of Credit (both inland & foreign), management of funds, and hedging forex payables under LC.Co-ordination with bankers (correspondences, documentations and preparation of various reports) for issuance of both Fund based and non-fund based credit limits.FINANCE: Finalisation of Accounts and subsequent preparation of Financial Statements at the project level.Preparation of Cash flow and MIS reportsDIRECT TAXES (Compliances): Responsible for Income tax compliances, filing of return of income of various class of assessee – corporate, BoI/ AoP and trusts, solving day to day queries of client, tax compliances, issue of 15 CA & 15 CB certificates, preparation of Form 29B, all related analysis and support of the group as a whole.Responsible for Tax audits and dealing with Auditors in respect of tax issues.Supervise TDS function of the employees and other payment, Liaison with Income Tax Department for the purpose of assessment and appeals.Calculation and deposit of Advance Tax within timelines and Calculation/applicability of MAT

Collate and compile information for timely payment of taxes and submission of returns under Service Tax, WCT and VAT Laws for the state of West Bengal and other StatesPreparation of data for Departmental Audits under VAT and Service Tax LawsEnsure all tax invoices/proforma invoices/ debit or credit notes are compliant as well as corresponding with other departments on the complexities of issuance, extension, cancellation etc. of e-waybillsDevising tax optimization strategies and analysing impact of WBVAT, CST, WCT, Customs and Service Tax on infra and Real Estate projects – along with the procedural formalities of SEZ. Assisting in tax modelling for procurement of goods and services from a leading fabrication company - determining whether materials to be bought directly from the state of origin under 2% CST against C Form and applicable Excise Duty. Ascertaining whether work order to be issued for the service portion with the applicable WCT on the Work Order bill (after reducing free supplies); would be undertaken in the light of notification 25/2012 point no 29(h) in case of Works Contract, if Contractor is exempted from service tax then sub contract is also exempted from service tax.Applicability of Central Sales Tax on transfer of property in goods in the execution of works contract in SEZ area located in West Bengal; exemption from payment of tax on subsequent inter-state sale; implication of WBVAT provisions on transfer of property in goods used in the execution of works contract; procedural requirements in the movement of goods from outside the State of West Bengal to the project and subsequently to be used in the execution of Works Contract such as the parties to issue Form C and Form EI/EII, tax invoice generation, endorsing of Lorry Receipt/ Bill of Lading etc
