I have 45 years of experience as a software and systems engineer in the space, military, research, and commercial domains. As a principle author of RTEMS, I have software in systems world-wide, orbiting multiple planets, and currently on the surface of Mars in NASA’s Perseverance and Curiosity rovers. I have supported the U. S. Army in a multitude of programs and research initiatives throughout my entire career providing software and systems engineering support for weapons systems and in the development for the standards used to build them including the Army COE Initiative, FACE, FCS, SOSCOE, WSTAWG, and POSIX. In the commercial sector, I have developed real-time embedded software for many segments including the telephony, broadcasting, scientific, healthcare, and consumer electronics industries.In addition, as a principal of On-Line Applications Research Corporation (OAR) for the past 42 years, including serving as the Chief Operating Officer for the past 35 years, I have successfully helped the company build and sustain an organization that has earned an outstanding reputation with both their customer base and their contracting partners.
