My “on the job” training started in 1972 when I opened my own roofing contracting business focusing solely on the residential market installing shingle roofing. I later expanded my work to residential re-roofing specializing in slate and tile roofing. I joined the National Roofing Contractors Association (NRCA) in 1984. To satisfy my customers’ growing need for roof investigations and consulting services I setup a consulting division to provide these services. I have worked on design build projects such as John Foster Williams Building in Boston for the GSA. This project entailed the following; re-roof photovoltaic array, observation deck, and copper cladding. It was a very challenging project working with the Navy, the biggest tenant on a Historic building; that added to the fact that there were logistic challenges as the building was adjacent to the Big Dig.My professional drive for complex and challenging work had me working on a historic restoration on Ellis Island for the “Statue of Liberty Ellis Island Foundation”. This project involved fabrication and installation of over 580 linear feet. of copper gutter and cornice.After completing a slate roof installation on The Dana Center in Central Park, I worked on many projects for the Central Park Conservancy. Two of the most interesting projects were the George Delacorte Musical Clock and the Bethesda Fountain.I joined the Roof Consultants Institute (RCI) to improve my technical knowledge.My latest interest is Green roofing I have installed a green roof on my building. As a member of United States Green Building Council (USGBC), I joined the Green Incentives committee. As of June 2008 I have secured over $100,000.00 dollars in rebate to my commercial roof customers.In an effort to remain competitive and gain expertise in the special design considerations of green roof installations I joined Green Roofs For Healthy Cities (GRHC) and have completed most of their certification courses.Specialties: Green roofingPlaza deck waterproofingSlate and Tile RoofingMembrane roofing including EPDM,TPO,PVCBuilt up roofing and sbs modifiedSpecialty metal wall claddingHistoric restoration especially churches Metal roofing including custom curved copper roofing.
