During my year as a Formulation Scientist in Kimia Farma's R&D :1. Plan and conduct scientific experiments to create prototype products, from lab-scale to pilot scale and commercial scale.2. Develop experimental programs and work plans and schedules to meet performance objectives.3. Identify complex problems and offer effective solutions through the development or modification of processes and product specifications.4. Review test results in alignment with the project goals, identify causes of variances and recommend solutions to achieve quality goals.5. Schedule experiments and prioritize assignments to meet project objectives and deadlines.6. Maintain laboratory equipment and chemicals in a safe manner as a part of GLP (Good Laboratory Practices).7. Conduct laboratory experiments and prepare reports with conclusions and recommendations.8. Develop new laboratory procedures or improvise existing procedures to meet project objectives as a part of Continuous Improvement.9. Follow company safety standards and SOPs for laboratory activities. Comply with CPOB (Indonesia's equivalent of GMP).10. Identify and manage the potential risks within complex projects in a timely fashion.11. Record accurate and complete experimental methods and results.12. Adhere to federal, state, and local health, safety, and environmental regulations.13. Lead and support scientific teams in projects. Feasibility study and research planning of every new product/project before put it in the laboratory works.14. Act as primary scientific contact to external collaborators (such as BPOM and Indonesia Ministry of Health).15. Pre-formulation and patent studies to support sourcing data. We (I and other Apoteker Muda from different universities) were able to gain experience in almost all of the existing divisions in this company, from Research & Development to Manufacturing (sterile and non-sterile products) to Quality to Distribution and After-Sales. They assigned me to jump straight into the Qual-Validation division to help them with their ongoing validation projects for exported pharmaceutical products.
