GSO was configured as a “plant within a plant” with dedicated operational and administrative personnel as well as the manufacturing work force. All areas had been reorganized based on the latest TQL philosophy of self-directed work teams.Project Engineer November ‘89 to April ‘91Served as manufacturing liaison between product engineering team developing next generation turbocharger and Garrett manufacturing facilities in Brazil, England, Ireland, Japan and the United States. I orchestrated Garrett’s first attempt at coordinating worldwide concurrent product and process development.Project Manager November ‘88 to November ‘89Directed an engineering team which was responsible for the functional and commercial success of a technology which was new to Garrett - an engine backpressure system. This patented device represented the largest single turbocharger system contract in automotive history.Account Engineer / Sports Turbo Program January ‘86 to November ‘88Responsible for the design, development and application of turbochargers for the Ferrari Formula One program. Involved with the design (aerodynamics, mechanical and materials engineering), development (performance and durability testing) and manufacture (casting, machining and assembly) of entire product line.Application Engineer December ‘81 to May ‘83Turbocharger and heat exchanger application engineering, analytical and empirical charge air systems matching to Caterpillar engines.
