At Beckman-Coulter, I played a lead role in helping the CEQ system become successful in the field. I developed excellent training and troubleshooting skills in the 9 years working as a field applications scientist for Beckman-Coulter. I helped customers with their research in a very broad range of studies, by optimizing their assays for many areas of research, including; cancer and disease diagnosis and testing, Oceanographic studies, Plant genetics, public health, and fish genetics. This was primarily done while I was acting as the senior support scientist for the CEQ/GeXP instrument line, of which I was the longest standing support scientist for.I was the primary customer contact in developing a new fragment sizing application; tRFLP and worked closely with the USC Marine Biology Department to implement this technique in their studies. With the help of a professor at Cal Poly SLO, I helped develop and promote an analysis tool for this application. I was also instrumental in helping train fellow field scientists from around the U.S. and the world on advanced fragment analysis applications.I have a strong background in Molecular Biology with research experience in Maize developmental genetics and characterization, as well as Arabidopsis functional genomics analysis using cDNA Microarrays.I acted as one of 3 primary trainers (in the U.S.) on the SNPstream high-throughput SNP analysis system, and performed the first training of a clinical lab in it's operation for FDA approval of a clinical personal-genetics assay.More recently at Beckman-Coulter, I was performing field service duties on the CEQ and several centrifuge product lines, performing installations and PMC's for the former, and PMC's only for the latter instruments. I was trained to be a certified field engineer for the CE protein and small molecule analyzers; the MDQ and the PA-800 products in the PNW area.Specialties: Customer technical support, customer and employee technical training, molecular biology applications troubleshooting, web-based assay design for gene expression and SNP detection, sales training and support, and remote web-training and distance learning techniques. Instrument installation, hardware troubleshooting, and field repair for both genetic analysis instruments and capillary electrophoresis analysis platforms.
