Pyranet provides IT Support and IT Services to businesses. Based in Nottingham and established in early 2005. The initial aim was to provide a corporate level IT Support service to small & medium businesses in Nottingham, Derby & the surrounding areas. The business quickly grew and became well known for its high-quality IT services.As a founding member of the company, my role initially was mostly technical. Along with my business partner we would provide the IT support and installation services. My role also extended to the development of our internal systems (CRM development, processes and procedures) and I was also accountable for the company’s finances. As the company grew, my role became less technical and more focused on other parts of the business. Some of my key responsibilities was to manage business development and account management.Within my time at Pyranet I learnt a lot about business, I experienced the successes and failures of a company. Each experience gave me a better understanding of how to run a successful business. It’s great that we built a company from nothing to employing over 15 people. We got involved in many large and interesting projects. Our services were delivered to small companies as well as very large ones, including some well-known brands.

We founded Bluestar-UK.com Ltd to provide website and bespoke CRM or ERP systems to businesses. BlueStar has a team of experienced developers and produces high quality web sites and bespoke systems. The clients ranged from small businesses to corporate business.My role within the company was primarily to help drive sales and provide account management. I would attend client meetings, understand the requirements and then develop a specification of works that a quotation could be based on. It was particularly interesting when working on bespoke systems, I would firstly understand the client’s business then get a clear understanding of their objectives. Working with the developers, I would create a specification and then write up the proposal. Once the work was agreed on I would then help with project management and look after the client’s expectations.

Pinewood computers are part of the Pendragon Motor Group PLC. The company not only looks after the Pendragon IT systems but also develops software to manage car dealerships. Pinewood has many external clients that use its Cloud Based software to run their dealerships. All the software was centrally managed by the data centre at the Pinewood HQ.It was my responsibility to maintain and develop the IT systems that hosted the Cloud Software. During this role, designing and implementing for large scale projects were a big part of the role. I was accountable for servers in the datacentre and also helped with the Pendragon servers.

Part of the Linney Group, Linney Design has some very high profile clients. The company is involved in Marketing, Branding, Printing, Web Design and much more. My role at the company was to look after and manage the client hosting infrastructure. Working for clients such as Yamaha, Mcdonalds and NEC I was directly responsible for how these websites sites were hosted. This involved communicating with not only the clients but also internal and external suppliers. My role also extended to implementing the server deployment and the on-going maintenance.

Part of the Linney Group (or W J Linney Group), Lintec Business Solutions installed and maintained all types of office equipment. This ranged from simple type writers, to fax machines, to copiers and then onto IT systems. In my role as a Technical Engineers, I designed and implemented IT systems for businesses of all sizes. My role also extended to the maintenance and continued development of the IT systems.Lintec Business Solutions came about through the merger of two companies (Castle Business Solutions and Taylor Brown Office Equipment). Both companies were part of the W J Linney Group.
