After twenty years as a television reporter in national and international current affairs, working out of Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth, she became a long-running newspaper columnist with the West Australian Newspaper, attracting a loyal weekend following of 350,000 readers. A book of readers’ favourite columns was UWA Publishing’s best seller for 2015. Her first fiction, a novel called How To Shame The Devil was published by Australia’s Night Parrot Press in November, 2021 and became a bestselling WA debut. It tells the story of an elderly man in existential crisis after a long-ago colleague waits 30 years to accuse him of being the office predator.She is now hard at work on another novel and is a sought-after speaker in the book industry, at festivals, conferences and at charity events. Ros’s short stories and flash fiction have won international prizes. In 2021 she was awarded for best Flash Fiction the UK Staunch Prize from an international field. She was longlisted for the prestigious Edinburgh Short Story Prize in 2022. Her work has been published in the flash fiction anthologies Twice Not Shy 2020 and Three Can Keep a Secret (2022), the Scottish Arts Trust Story Awards Volume 4 2022 and the UK 2020 Summer Short Story Anthology All Those Things You Never Thought Mattered. Ros is a passionate advocate for the aged and isolated, has been researching chronic loneliness as a clinical condition post-Covid and serves on the WA Government's Carers Advisory Council as Deputy Chair. She has been an ambassador for Alzheimer's WA and is committed to helping people at risk of severe isolation re-establish their social networks.
