The Countery specialises in the provision of accounting, tax and payroll solutions for small and medium businesses.

As part of my introduction to this role, I was seconded to Standard Bank in the temporary position of financial manager of the HNI Africa Division during September and October 2012. During this period my responsibilities included:- Assisting with divisional budgets and compilation of the regional budgets.- Monthly reporting, using the BPC SAP module.- Variance analysis - which involved engaging with the divisional heads across Africa to understand abnormal movements in monthly accounts.- Preparation of the monthly executive pack, which included the presentation of the financial results at the monthly meetings.Other responsibilities in the Deloitte Accounting & Financial Advisory division include:- documenting process flows for key account cycles at clients- reconciliation of account balances, including the comparasion of budgeted amounts to actual monthly results- preparation and review of financial statements to ensure compliance with IFRS

The following experience has been gained through my time in this role:- Monitoring of clients budgeting processes.- Analysis of investment property valuations.- Involvement in complex consolidations.- Involvement with inventory valuations where standard costing is applied.- Development and review of impairment models.- In-depth knowledge of construction accounting.- Preparation of financial statements for public and private companies.- Performance of data analytics.- Providing technical advice to my clients - specifically in respect of specialist standards.- Assessment of the control environment including the identification of weaknesses and providing recommendation for improvement.- Management of multiple teams at any given time - this involves the development of project plans to ensure all work is completed within the required timeframe.My key clients included: Capital Property Fund, Murray & Roberts Construction, Tata Africa, Transnet SOC Ltd, Bridgestone, Mondi - Paper & Industrial Packaging Division and CBI: African Cables (a subsidiary of Reunert)Other skills gained in this position include the following:- managing and supervising an average team size of between 6 and 8 people- co-ordination of divisional audit teams while fulfilling the responsibilities in a group role- writting management reports as well as presenting them to audit committees- Liasing with key members of the clients management team- Integration of specialist function with audit services- Providing timely feedback to employees as wekk as managing and developing poor performers.During 2012 I was a recipient of a client service award for "client service excellence".My integral non-client facing responsibilities included the following:- business unit human resources manager - responsible for: leading bi-annual promotions meeting; monitoring the quality of promotional feedback and ensuring that disadvantaged trainees receive appropriate support.

- Responsible for the assistance in the implementation and the full implementation of IFRS 7, financial instrument disclosures, in the following clients: Nedbank Namibia and Standard Bank Namibia.- Responsible for various presentations provided to key clients in respect of new accounting statement.- Assisted in the SAA audit during the implementation of IFRIC 13, customer loyalty programmes.

- Responsible for the assistance in the implementation and the full implementation of IFRS 7, financial instrument disclosures, in the following clients: Nedbank Namibia and Standard Bank Namibia.- Responsible for various presentations provided to key clients in respect of new accounting statement.- Assisted in the SAA audit during the implementation of IFRIC 13, customer loyalty programmes.

• Responsible for the following duties:• Assisting in the monthly reporting of Group consolidated information• Preparation of the monthly CEO group statistic’s report• Calculation of the quarterly CFROI (cash flow of returns on investments) numbers using the Holt model. This is a valuation model adopted by Barloworld to determine whether or not investments are meeting their required rate of return.• Assisting in the preparation of Financial Statements• Completion of the tax returns for all the Swaziland companies• Review of the Head Office reconciliations on a monthly basis• Valuation of an option in respect of a BEE deal on a half yearly basis• Responsible for the clean up of the following:• Fix up of the Barloworld Motor head office fixed asset register• Clean up of the Barloworld Motor consolidation journal entries.• Accounting for the costs incurred and the charge out of such costs to the various divisions of a new building that has been purchased by the group.• Assisting in the preparation of tax returns, provisional tax returns and resolving tax queries.
