At CHS, I was the Program Manager for the following programs: Resource & Referral (R&R), Family Education, Child & Family Team, Bridge Program for Foster Children, and Neighborhood Resource Network. I coordinate the activities of the programs and led a team of seven amazing Program Specialist.In the Resource & Referral (R&R) Program, we worked with early child care providers to improve the quality of child care and to maintain and expand the supply of child care in Orange County. R&R maintained a comprehensive database of more than 1,300 child care providers, including licensed family child care homes and child care centers. I coordinated more than 50 training's and 4 Conferences for child care providers seeking professional development. Some examples of educational topics presented were: childhood mental health, fine motor skills, responsibilities of a mandated reporter, starting a child care business.We also assisted parents in achieving self-sufficiency by connecting parents to resources, provided parents with educational workshops, and help with finding quality child care that best met their family's needs.Other highlights:* Through the Bridge Program for Foster Children which began in January 2018, we aimed to increase the number of foster children successfully placed in home-based family care settings. We would also provide trauma-informed care training curriculum, strategies, techniques, and materials to family child care home providers. As a Family Education Program Specialist, I assembled educational materials and they were shipped to all of the USA, Puerto Rico, and Germany. Our educational materials are of high quality, easy to read, and inviting. They are used by school counselors, mental health workers, child care workers, hospital staff, and parents. Since there was a demand for educational materials in different formats, I assist in creating online parenting topic presentations and along with my colleague, we recorded the Family Education Podcasts in English and Spanish. Being a founding Kindergarten Instructional Assistant (IA) at KIPP Raices Academy in East Los Angeles, I was part of one of the highest performing schools in Los Angeles County that is now recognized as a National Blue Ribbon School. During my 4 years, I assisted with implementing lessons plans and prepared needed materials for effective lessons. I administered a variety of assessments to measure students’ academic growth toward academic goals. I use my creative skills to develop short lessons that engaged Kindergartner's during our small group or one-on-one time. Substitute teaching is one of the most exciting educational environments that exists. By teaching students across a range of subjects and capacities, I was able to strengthen my classroom management techniques, effective communication, flexibility, and resilience. At the end of the day, I provided the permanent teacher with a concise report on the students participation or their input during lessons. Working with the Kindergarten to 12th grade student population in Garden Grove allowed me to learn about the demographic diversity of Orange County.Highlights:* At the end of the day, receiving "Thank You" cards or kind words from students was a very rewarding. I am sure students let their permanent teacher know of my performance and that is how I became a go-to Substitute Teacher* I was the go-to Substitute Teacher for a High School Spanish Teacher who taught 9th and 10th graders* I was the go-to Substitute Teacher for an Elementary Teacher who taught 4th graders* One of the most memorable students were in 7th grade English class - the lesson was to teach about poetry. For the most part, poetry is an abstract part of English Language Arts and some students might not find a connection to poetry. So, I connected poetry to the music that class liked: rap. One of the students mentioned that her friend was a rapper and wrote music...we had the hook and the rest of the time, it was exciting and relevant for the students!

During my time with New Horizons, I provide a variety of materials and resources for children to explore, manipulate and use, both in learning activities and in imaginative play. During the summer time, when there were more than 40 children at the Center, fields trips to the park or movies were planned for the students. I enjoy collaborating with a talented team of professionals to support and guide the child’s emotional growth and development. Highlights:* During the summertime, I proposed to the Director that we provide the children with lessons on crafts and short academic lessons in small group settings to prevent the "Summer Slide". Thereafter, I was preparing lessons for students which helped to keep the children busy and regulated their behavior.

Being a first generation college graduate who faced a lack of knowledge when navigating educational or financial opportunities after high school, working at UCLA's EAOP provided me with an opportunity to give back. UCLA EAOP works with students to help them become competitively eligible applicants for college admission, going beyond minimum eligibility. I worked in San Fernando High School and Sylmar High School with the freshman and sophomore students and they received ongoing academic advising to ensure that they successfully complete the required college preparatory courses (the “a–g” course pattern) and help them prepare for all required UC entrance exams.
