Sir Francis BaconIn every aspect of my career, I have found all jobs lead me back to one thing: the English Language. Its necessity, its vitality, its complexity and its beauty. I have been a teacher for many years but a writer all my life. In my times at IT companies and even working for the Government of Sri Lanka, it was my writing that carried into all aspects of work. Having excelled in English from school days, pursuing English Studies (encompassing both Language and Literature) for my degree at the University of Nottingham was an obvious choice. I studied Classical Civilizations alongside English, graduating with a Joint Honours Degree in 2001. I started writing Web Content from 2001 and never really stopped - I continue to work closely with companies, enabling them to showcase their products or services on their websites. My work at several leading Sri Lankan corporates as well as being part of the inaugural team at the ICT Agency of Sri Lanka has enriched my abilities in working with people and understanding both the private and public sector. Teaching from 2007 has, however, been my most rewarding experience, working with young minds to hone their English skills. My proudest moments have come from seeing children who struggled to spell even the simplest words working hard to finally receive an A* grade in their London or Cambridge O'levels. Some career highlights include my students receiving World Prizes in English Language with top scores of 98% in Cambridge and 94% in Pearson Edexcel London O'level exams. I continued to teach to students all over the world, due to the online nature of classes post pandemic. Moving to Australia led me to my first job here where I worked at Imagine Holidays in its Brisbane office, creating copy and handling all media proofing with the team in Marketing.Today, I am based in Sydney and work with all our valued Sponsors at Developing Australian Communities, being their first point of contact for all things sponsorship of Australia's biggest expos for the Disability Sector in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth.I also love creating content and showcasing the amazing difference that Service Providers make in the Disability Sector.
