I was part of the small but mighty Trueman Change team, specialising in helping public sector and charity organisations achieve they change they want to see.

SLDAS is a grassroots community-based service that specialises in supporting women and girls who have experienced domestic abuse.

I worked as part of a programme team, helping implement a range of change projects across the organisation – from new IT systems to changing the way guide dogs are trained. This is the role that showed me that change done well looks a lot like good teaching and learning – it needs to be person-centred, compassionate and collaborative.

I was responsible for training new guide dog partnerships, ensuring both the dog and their new owner had a long and happy relationship working together. What a whirlwind of a role – I had never trained a dog or spent much time with someone with a visual impairment before I joined the organisation, so unsurprisingly this role added immensely to my understanding teaching and learning!
