Rose began her auction career in 1997. After many years working in the office and as a bid spotter at, it was time for a change, and a challenge. She decided to attend auctioneer school and graduated third in her class from Reppert School of Auctioneering in Auburn Indiana. Rose dove right in to auctioneering and hasn’t looked back. In 2004 she won the Idaho State Rookie Auctioneer Contest. In that same year she vied for the top recognition available for an auctioneer, The International Auctioneering Championship. Rose was a finalist in that competition in 2004 and was recognized again in 2006 for being among the top 7 women auctioneers in the nation. Rose and her husband Matt were the first husband, wife team to ever simultaneously make the finals in the IAC. “That’s a good compliment to their skills” said National Auctioneers Association communications director, Steve Baska.Rose is the 2009 Idaho State Champion Auctioneer and most recently earned the title of Northwest Auctioneer Champion. She became the first woman to win the Tri-State Award. Patti Payne of the Puget Sound Business Journal recently wrote in her column:I emceed this auction, and as emcee for dozens of wonderful charity events each year, I've worked with almost every auctioneer in the area. But this was my first time working with one Rose Backs. She was a force to be reckoned with -- cool, funny, sharp, relevant. She's already right up there with some of the best.Mrs. Backs is a member of the Kootenai Alliance for Children & Families, Women's Impact Network, National Auctioneers Association, Idaho Association of Professional Auctioneers and is currently serving on the Board of Directors of the Washington Auctioneers Association.
