In this position, I admitted and discharged patients to the clinic and assisted the pain physicians with procedures. I also provided triage for patient questions and made all post-op calls 1-2 days following procedures. When I was first employed at Lexington Medical Center, I started on the Joint Replacement Unit which gave me the opportunity to renew my interest and skills in orthopaedics. I have also worked in the outpatient department at Lexington, which enabled me to teach patients about their procedures, as well as how to care for themselves postoperatively, both in orthopaedics and endoscopy. I truly value the opportunity to develop nurse-patient relationships that promote health and wellness. All of the departments at Lexington afforded me the chance to utilize my background in education

After completing the UNCCH nursing refresher class, working at Chatham was an excellent opportunity because the position required that I care for a variety of patients with different disease processes. I worked with oncology, diabetic, orthopaedic, and general medicine patients. Chatham was a very Team Oriented work environment, where the disciplines of Nursing, Physicians, Occupational and Physical Therapists, Respiratory Therapists, Pharmacists and Case Managers met daily to coordinate patient care. During the time I worked there I was also able to shadow the case managers which enabled me to understand how patient placement and follow up care arrangements are made.
