Hello there. I'm a qualified psychotherapist practicing both person centred counselling and cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT). I believe mental health is as important as physical health, and the two go hand in hand. The client/therapist relationship is key. Let me reassure you that I will help you to ease into your counselling journey by offering an empathic, welcoming, confidential, non-judgemental and safe space. The goal during our time together is to help reduce your distress by understanding what's happening and why you are feeling the way you do. We'll collaborate to find the root cause of your emotions and feelings. This will involve some exploration of experiences and emotions and time for self reflection and self care. Counselling was a natural career change for me after 35 years in the hospitality sector, which was always motivated by people – colleagues and customers alike. I've witnessed workplace stress and anxiety first hand. There is often a lack of support and understanding of what someone might be experiencing in their personal life which can cause an impact in the workplace. Above all, I am passionate that in any situation that is causing any distress, that a person’s thoughts, feelings, emotions and experiences are validated and heard. Safe Hands Counselling are absolutely delighted to be able to offer counselling support to Venues of Excellence members and the wider hospitality industryI have completed five years of studies and two volunteer counsellor placements with Caring Together, Cambridgeshire and Breathing Space, Melton Mowbray. I have gained a BA Hons in Therapeutic Counselling and Psychotherapy (1st), Pearson Edexcel Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling Level 5, CPCAB Certificate in Counselling Studies Level 3 and a CPCAB Certificate in Counselling Skills Level 2. I am fully Insured and an Accredited Member of the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society.Along with my colleague, Jazz Malam, we run a private therapy practice in Rutland and Leicestershire for in person sessions and also offer very effective online counselling sessions. I personally work with adults and elders and can support them in many areas, including but not limited to:Anxiety, stress, depression and low moodsEmotional supportBereavementGrief, loss and sadnessWork-related stress and issuesConfidence and self-esteemCarer supportWomen's issues including miscarriage and the menopause transitionRelationship breakdowns and issuesPerformance anxiety Survivors of abuse
